Careers in the ski industry?

I'm 19 trying to figure out what path I want to go down for a career. I know the ski industry is not necessarily a place to pursue a career for a high salary, but what if I want a solid profession that I can feel accomplished in while being surronded by the world of skiing in some sort. Information on any career path is appreciated.

I mean any 'career' in the industry is going to require you to work most of the time while the lifts are spinning during the 4/12 months a year the resort is open. And even a good job won't pay you enough to live in those places if you don't have help from your parents.

Maybe be a chef and move to a ski town and work the dinner shift? A culinary degree should serve you well.

Bartend? Hotels? Or do something summer oriented and have winters off. GL.

Rn I’m looking into getting emt certified and try to pursue a ski patrol or avalanche rescue job. maybe if that’s your thing

Like its been said, most careers in the ski industry involve working all week and skiing on your days off, but you work with like minded people and get to be involved in a tight-knit industry. Some of us get lucky enough to be able to ski and work, but I wouldn't expect that for yourself.

As for career paths, what are you into? Larger brands/resorts/retail/lodging all have career jobs, just have to figure out what you're best at and what you like.

Get a CS degree and work remotely. Maybe you can't work remote but you can live in places like Denver and SLC that have a booming tech industry.

jk, be a ski bum and tell everyone you're the emperor of the mountain and they must pay you their taxes in bread crusts and broken equipment.

Build your home out of broken skis and fashion a scepter from the bones of exploded ankles.

nah, all my projects are on hold for two weeks due to organizational stuff so I literally have nothing to do and my boss is like “yeah I know, we just gotta suffer for 10 days”. For some asinine reason I feel self conscious drawing at my desk so I’m left to my devices on the web.

Get a good job and then find the same job that’s remote. Easier advice to follow when your older with some experience than HS/college age.


When working remote try and manipulate time zones when possible.
