What is your average commute to get to your hill?

I know it varies from weekdays to weekends, location, and mode of transportation(car, bus, train, etc.) used but how long do you travel to go skiing at your local mountain?

I ski Hood and it takes me almost 2 hours(weekday and depending on traffic) to drive one way from where I currently live.

Also, what is the longest commute you have done to go skiing for the day and return home?

Growing up where I did, it was common to drive 4 hours one direction, ski for the day and drive back home after.

I’m lucky to live a 10 minute drive from my hill, and I still manage to whine about features being sticky or the snow being icy

About an hour each way to my local. When I drive north in the state (MI) to Nubs or one of the Boyne hills I make it a day trip, 4 hours each way.

About 10 minutes if I walk, 2 mins to drive. I'm so thankful that my town decided to not build a touristy condo village at the base of the mountain like Vail & other places, it made room for full time residents to live right there.

35 minutes to an hour or longer depending on roads/time of week going into PC.

And for LCC/BCC, just over an hour to SLC where I usually carpool with my sister who lives down there or take one of the later morning/early afternoon ski busses up

Takes at least 2.5 hrs to get to mt bachelor from the valley but it’s worth it plus I stay the night allot of the time.

About 12 minutes from my driveway to being parked mid mtn. Pretty mellow. Also a 1 min walk after work laps. About 10 min from DP. I dont think I ever wanna commute more than a half hour again.

Summer commute is about 30 steps from the kitchen.

Trying to drive up there on the weekends to ski is so fucked. If im going up on the weekend I always camp out the night before to avoid all the subarus and tacomas driving like idiots just to get a spot in the back of the parking lot

5hrs to anything worth skiing but not worth writing home about. 10+ to anything good.

Otherwise there's a 300' vert, I'd call sledding hill, that's an hour away and has a very short season length and no natural snow.

From Boston: 2 hours to Cannon, Loon or Mt. Snow and about 3 hours to Killington or any other resorts up there.

If anything is longer than 3 and half then I'll stay the night

It's about 2 hours from Boston to anything worth skiing in NH or VT. I've sent day trips to the Loaf which is another 2 further but never a bad time.

Back home it was a 12 minute drive to Powder Ridge in Minnesota. Living in Portland now. Been going to Ski Bowl which is like an hour and 15 for me but hurt my knee recently.

About an hour to my home mountain, but 2 hr 45 min to Sun Valley which i get to ski once a season if im lucky just cuz the prices are a little steep for a high schooler. There is this sled hill with a magic carpet with probably 200 vertical feet that used to make a terrain park only 5 min from my house, but they stopped building the park so that blows.

I’m usually good for 8-10 day trips to Killington which is around 3hrs from my house. Could drive an hr less to Snow or Stratton but prefer the snow quality and terrain better at Killington.

Yea I drive 3 hours from NYC to MA saturday morning at like 5:30 am (still in high school), and stay at the motel in town that night. My dad actually lives upstate so I also go there (about a hour away) saturday night if we don't feel like paying for a room.

I’ve day tripped Stowe and Burke from Boston too many times and it’s close to 8 hrs in the car. Don’t really like anything close Sunapee or Waterville I guess are 2 each way. Guess I’ve been fortunate to take long trips out west or get hotels last 8-9 years I’ve skiied a lot as an adult.

Where do you live?

I can make Kirkwood in 3:15 or so with good traffic. The usual commute is Squaw, 3:30 minimum. Depending on traffic and weather it can take a long time. Did a 24hr last year getting home. Slept in the car at the base of Donner Pass to get moving as soon as the opened the roads. We really really had to get home do to some extenuating circumstances I won't go into, otherwise we would have stayed put and had another monster pow day.

Closest mountain to me is 7 springs -1 hour 10 minutes but I don’t go there ever
I go to snowshoe , 3.15 hours each way
longest trip will b big sky approx 30 hours est, probably gonna have a hotel break adding 10 hours of non driving time so 30 for true commute I guess
