Best Canadian Resort for Cliffs

whistler, kicking horse, sunshine all have their fair share of big terrain. Those are probably the big ones outside of revelstoke that come to mind. I’m sure others will have their opinions as well though. Honourable mention to fernie as well it seems like a fun mountain but doesn’t have the same “exposure” as the other listed three I’d say.

Kicking Horse. You’ll love it. Will push your skiing to a new level QUICKLY. Much more fun then Revy imo. Honorable mention is Whitewater in Nelson.

Red. Plenty of cliffs around whitewater too, but most are a short tour.

Kickinghorse is a must ski if you’re ripping in Canada, Revy is also pretty dope

The people saying Whitewater are out to lunch. Within the resort boundary there is little to no cliff options (threre's Sproulers - but the landing is kinda shit.) Red, Whistler, and Kicking Horse are where the cliffs are at.

Red doesn't get the snow that others get.
Whistler is very busy and has way too many hungry skiers.
Kicking Horse is all alpine and can be lacking when the alpine has no visibility.
Revy has very short fall line where it counts with long lap times.

If you're in it for the long haul, I'd say Red. If it's a short vacation I'd say Revy. If you're rich I'd say Whistler. If you have a few weeks but not a whole season I'd say Kicking Horse. Reality is, you'll have a great time at any of them, but they all have their weak points.

^Powderkeg at Whitewater?

I guess it depends on the size of cliffs you are looking for. Kicking Horse has lots of large ones, Lake Louise (brownshirt, kiddies corner, ER3,6,7) and Sunshine (standish and hayes hill in delirium dive) have some smaller ones as well. But I think Revelstoke has the best ones of all sizes.

Thank you so much for this! We decided to head to Kicking Horse so we'll hopefully get some good visibility and sick skiing! We went to Revy last year and LOVED it but wanted to switch it up this time.

If you have low vis days at the horse there’s still plenty to ski. A lot more treed out chutes then the map shows. There’s also an insane amount of legendary sidecountry or just hidden in bounds stuff that will make your trip. Just usually need a little local help to find, if you’re super eager you can get a guide for like 150 CAD. Hopefully Ozone, T1 and T2 are open when you go. Amazing hikes for even better skiing.
