I thought the Amer's factory was in austria? Also not everything that comes from China is garbage my vishnus are on their third season of being slammed into rocks and shit and they still work great

I have beaten my Vishnu for two seasons in the park and they hold up, but Im pretty sure they are made in china too

yeah they're made in the dps factory. next time you see a pair of dps check out the topsheet/sidewall construction they're the same as vishnus

Yea I heard that, its crazy how dps's are like 1000$ and vishnus are 450$

I know a guy who met the vishnu guy, apparently he makes very little money off of it because the chinese factory keeps raising the prices on him.

yeah there was a thread earlier where ON3P and Vishnu both talked about the trade war and how it's affected both of them negatively (most of ON3Ps materials come from china)

this thread is about ski manufacturing and durability my dude

but to get back to Amer, it's a super bad look to have athletes breaking their gear in comps and I hope this makes them up their durability, but for some reason I don't think it will. I think for big brands like this most of their customers aren't thrashing their gear super hard so they only have to replace the skis for the 5% of skiers on them who actually shred. They come out looking good for replacing the skis. Other, dare I say, "core," brands like ON3P Moment Vishnu etc actually count on the people buying their skis to thrash them super hard, and aggressively market their durability, so they have to give a shit and put in effort to make sure the skis hold up. Big brands simply don't care about durability. I mean look at marker, I'm not even surprised when I see them break in videos

Wait wasn't this a binding ripout? Not really indicative of anybody's durability if we don't know if the mount was any good? I mean I'd assume he had his skis mounted by a professional but still.

Edit: unless somebody else ripped their heel out and this binding exploded? Were there two instances of binding issues with two separate skiers?

Our factory's fair pricing and outstanding quality is pretty much the only reason for the success we have had. Without them, there simply wouldn't be Vishnu at all and I am indebted to them for life.

I was probably complaining to your friend about tariffs, but we survived haha.

Pictures of broken gear on the internet is an absolute no go, you hate to see it.

The only ski from atomic I’ve ever thought about was the bentchetler 100.

I’ve never seen anyone (in person) in any park throwing down on Salomons. Maybe things were different like 12yrs ago or something.

For accuracy here - only our bamboo cores come from China, but a 25% tariff on that material was not cheap for us. Most materials for skis come from the US and Europe.

In our case:
Cores - China
Tops - Austria
Edges - Austria
Bases - Ohio
Sidewalls - Ohio
Tipspacer - Ohio
VDS - Austria
Epoxy - Oregon
Fiberglass - Alabama
Titanal - Austria

Tariffs affected orders out of both China & Austria.

Pretty much all the Atomic flat mount skis including some Jr. and foam core models have been getting a 4.1x9mm stamp on them, seems kind of whack - followed it once at the start of last season when it started showing up on some new Bent 100's and sure enough homie's toe piece started pulling out within a couple weeks, so I drill all of them with a 3.5 now. Went up the chain to get an answer from the factory, and they claim to use a 4.3mm bit on all the pre-mounted track kits. They did send a replacement set of skis though... anyone else notice this?
