.MASSHOLE.So a consumer SL ski?
Atomic S9, Head World Cup Rebels I.SL, Stockli Laser SL, etc. are all great options.
Almost every brand should have a consumer SL ski that more or less will ski the same.
Just keep them sharp.
I don't think you'll need to worry about breaking that rod on the Atomics. Those things are going to be able to withstand more force than you can likely put out. They're used on WC GS skis.

a_pla5tic_bagWasn't concerned about breaking it skiing, more when it's not being skied, liek putting them in a car and stuff. I'd obviously be careful but you know, I want them to last.
But yeah, I want a consumer SL ski, are they all similar enough?
a_pla5tic_bagI'm 5'5" and 120lbs, so I feel like the FIS size is too big for me.
nmwninjartGo for it, they're fun for those pure ice kinda days. I have Volkl Racetigers. Before I had them I tried some Salomons and I hated them. They chattered like crazy. When I tried the Volkls I was sold. They were more stable (and heavier) So I felt more comfortable on them. I haven't used them in a couple years because I discovered how much fun twin tips are :)
DominatorJacquesThat chatter could have been a bad tune. Dull tips and tails.
No matter which brand, all the top brands are good if properly tuned.
Other than that, they possibly could have just been torsionally spent. AKA used up. That's rare though.
a_pla5tic_bagOr maybe all of these tip vibration reduction systems actually work well.
I was under the impression that the non-FIS models are just different sizes, but otherwise have the same construction as the FIS ones. Is that not the case?

.nastyWanna turn a lot? Get the new Line Blade coming out next year.
B.Quincyhahaha... or don't
onenerdykidThe Redster S9 is our single most sold ski- I haven't heard of the Servotec rod getting damaged, even in rental fleets where everything is destroyed.
FIS slalom skis are a much beefier/powerful construction in a super short length (165cm) and 10 or 12m radius that will fully work you. And there is no sidecut limitations on FIS SL skis, just length.
I would highly recommend going with the commercial S9 or even the X9. The X9 has a little less sidecut (a radius still in the mid teens) but has a real FIS construction. It's far easier to ski than a FIS slalom ski (and more fun) given its radius but still has insane amount of power due to its construction. If you can afford it, it's a serious blast.
a_pla5tic_bagEh, I want the full experience so I'd probably go with the S9. What do you think about size? I guess the 156 is the way to go if I'm 165cm and ~55kg. My brother, who is the same size as me has Volkl racetiger SL's in 160, he tried 165 Redster S9 SL's and thought they were a bit long.
The other thing is finding some, seems like shops only have these at the beginning of seasons.
