Even if we completely minimize the harm we do to our planet while still enabling the world economy to function healthily, its only going to make a small difference. If people really want to save the environment we need to dump fertilizer in the pacific and let phytoplankton blooms dump huge amounts of oxygen into the atmosphere and take up huge amounts of carbon.
Trying to simply reduce Carbon emmissions is like trying to cure cancer by simply starving the patient.

you need to attack the problem, not just reduce the problem by a few percent.
as for garbage/environmental impact— i could take the next billion years worth of human garbage (seriously, go to the future and collect all the garbage humans produce from year 2020 to year 1,000.002,020) and truck it off to a place in what is now siberia and dump it all out there- and no humans would ever come across it or even know it existed. People who dont understand how much bigger the earth is than a fucking plastic bottle are really stupid. The earth is fucking huge. Dont be that guy who thinks the pictures of asian rivers full of garbage represent a garbage problem rather than a garbage disposal problem.
the chance that humans make it to year 1billion AD is small anyways though compared to the likelyhood of other shit taking us out.
