Mounting position for Faction candide CT 3.0 18/19 108mm and 19/20 112mm model

I'm old (36) 189-190cm (6'2) and 98KG'ish (215-220lbs) , skied since 6-7-8 years old? 25 days on ski so far this season and usually have annual ski pass to. maybe 70% groomers, 25% freeride/misc hitting misc tiny jumps and 5% boxes/rails. My goals is for 2020 is increase rail game and jumps and freeride. I'm trying to get back into fun skiing, not just carving it up. My on groomer skills are good, my freeride/offpiste are ... ok minus, my park skills are meeh (according to my 18yo coworker park rat)

I picked up the 18/19 108mm 192cm on a sale, and yesterday I was linked to a NIB 19/20 112mm 190cm even cheaper than the 18/19. So long story short I have both now incoming. I was thinking +2 from what AT line like I did for my bent chetler 100's... Or is there a huge advantage to CT?

My plan is to test them back to back and see which one I like the best and sell the other, if I like both, keeping both, If someone has something to tell me about the skis, bring it, finding info on the newer 112mm seems to be close to impossible.



Now mounting, I have the 18/19 188 candide CT 1.0 mounted to the candide line and rounded off for rails. Meaning realisticly the 3.0's will be used for misc mountain fun, and probably will only see the rails if going around the mountain haveing some fun, doing jumps, and if there is rails I will try to hit a few.

I have the 18/19 ct 3.0 182 and have them mounted at -1 from true center. I ski everything from pow to groomers to park on them and they hold up at speed very well not feeling like the ski is nervous or trying to move around. I would suggest the Candide line if you want something farther back.

I have this years 3.0 (112 underfoot) and had it mounted on the CT line. It’s perfect at that point, with enough ski in front to be able to drive it hard but still enough tail to be supportive on landings and switch skiing. Would definitely recommend!

Thanks for the input guys, how does it feel in trees with CT mount? do you feel the length on the tail? and on powder, can you lean forward/charge or should you be a bit careful?

Just skied them in pow last week and you can ski with a good forward stance. I experienced no tip dive. The CT line is perfect because there’s a little less ski behind you, so the ski is super quick edge to edge and perfect in the trees

Flex pics, the 2020 whiteout design is pretty awesome (the red things are there for packing)

The side marking on the 2020 lost the AT line though, and not as easy to find the spot when mounting.

We only have the candide mark on the 2020 (triangle). That’s where the skis are meant to be skied. As for the 18/19 model, 100% mount at the CT line, they are way more fun there. I’ve skied everything in the CT line and they all benefit from the forward mounting position

Wait so the Candide mounting line is the triangle?. My 19/20 3.0s (which broke, new pair on the way) looked a bit different and there were lines next to boot center and candide plus the triangle. I just thought the triangle was the all-mountain line and the line next to candide was the ct line so I had them mounted there. Is that actually center? All the lines are kinda confusing. I wanna make sure I get my next pair mounted right.

I mean, what's difficult with finding mounting spot yourself? Just take measure-tape, find true center, then go to google or manufacturer site and find what is recommended. Using your measure-tape, find that spot and mark it yourself. It's really a 2 minute excercise

Put bindings on the 2019 108mm at CT mark and tested them for today, no fresh powder, so took it down the local resort and tested the carving, going fast in the black and red runs, jumping, etc. super happy, surprising fun ski even on hard surface! not sure what the english word is for when you just use the changes in landscape to jump in the hills, put some friends to spot that there were no people in landings under and sent it, sooooo much fun, so stable in air and on landings. did 3 runs runs in the park as well, felt nice on jumps, didnt wanna rail them though.

Just a fun ski.

compared them to my 1.0 and you can tell the CT mark is further back on the 3.0

I bought the CT 3.0 184 2020/2021 (blue ones). I also have a line next to text saying "Candide", another line next to "boot centre".

To me it seemed obvious that a marked line next to the text "Candide" would be the Candide line mounting point, the triangle I assumed was the classic.... Mounted them 1.5cm behind this Candide line mark, thinking it would THE Candide mount. So did I just mount mine in front of the Candide mark (triangle)?? Does anyone know how far from the tail the Candide mount point is suppose to be? So I can measure.



If so, what the *** went through the designers minds when puting a line next to text "Candide" if it is in fact not the Candide mount point? Confusion is real

The Triangle is the Candide mount point which is 5.2cm back from Center on your 184cm skis.

Only have those Boot Center and Candide writing on my early production 21 CT 2.0 in 183cm and all others JUST have the Triangle.

The line to the right of the word CANDIDE is the ski Center and the triangle is 3.4cm back from that on my CT 2.0 pair do you might be mounted on the skis true Center right now.

All newer CT look like this.

Thank you for your reply. That is very sad to hear, I'll be skiing dead centre instead of rear mount... Why on earth would Faction do that :(. Surely I cant be the only one who didnt understand this? I guess that's why they removed those lines

Confused me when I first saw them too so I measured the ski before mounting to find out what was the right mark.

I bought my 190cm CT 3.0 as a demo and remounted different bindings on them and the shop had exact colour matched plugs for the old holes so you don’t really see them. Just moved mine a bit back of the original holes so you can’t even see them under the binding but yours moving back 5cm you might see them in front of the toe.

Metal binding reinforcement in those skis so no issue whatsoever remounting those and plugging the old holes. Worst case a sticker placed on top of the holes in front of the bindings and you’ll never see them.

Thanks for more info. I mounted my skis at local ski shop and asked for the "progressive mount", which according to faction webpage is -1.5cm behind the mark for 21/22 skis. I explained that I wanted a more all-mountain, powder experience, and not for park riding. He said that the perfect mount is then to put it a bit behind the vertical candide line. I didnt really argue as I assumed that this mark was the candide mark and that he knew best.


Here is a photo of how I measured the ski. The first line which I marked as "c" measures 92cm to the tip and 92cm to the
tail. So I figure this is the true center of the ski. The vertical candide line measures -1.5cm behind the true center. The triangle is -5cm behind true center. My new mounted boot center point (I marked as "bc"), sits at -3cm behind true center, so +2cm in front of triangle.

My understanding is that the progressive mount point should be -6.5cm from true center, so -1.5cm from triangle.
I went back to the shop and I told them that maybe they where wrong about how to mount them, but the guy in the shop insist that this is the perfect mount for me and that I shouldnt worry. Who is wrong here? Will there be a major difference in my skiing experience. I hope my writing in the image is readable.

This issue it’s seems is that both the shop and you didn’t know the Triangle was the Candide mark to then base the Progressive mark off of. Agree that -1.5cm is the correct mount point for your use but -1.5cm from the triangle.

Your math is just a bit off due to the fact that the ski doesn’t measure the full 184cm on a tape measure so the CT mark is around -5.2 back from Center. The progessive mount is -6.7cm total back from Center then. Have my CT 3.0 at -6.4cm on the 190cm and -6.7cm on the 184cm and it’s perfect for similar use to yours.



So you’re a decent amount in front of that which is getting into “fighting the sidecut” a bit as you’re no longer in the minimum width of the ski. Would be maybe okay if you were mostly skiing park but will not be as stable at Higher speed, as powerful carving and powder float will be sacrificed(tip dive more likely).

Agree that I didn't know, thats why I asked the shop. They already mounted them wrong once. First time they put it between the vertical candide and the boot centre mark by misstake. I got refund on the mounting and a good store discount. Hi Guys! Sorry for reopening the thread but I’m still a bit confused by it. I asked for these to be mounted between Candide and regular (will be used more for all mountain etc than freestyle) but they feel really far forward. Reading above looks like the arrow should be Candide on mine but mine are mounted in front of that by the looks of things… any advice? Im thinking of getting them remounted but want to be sure first! Any help appreciated thanks!

The triangle is the Candide mark which is usually the difference between those 2 lines behind true Center.
I’d tape measure the CT triangle to see where it is compared to Center(about 176cm on the 178cm divided by 2 which is 88cm). Should be a few cm back from Center and for your use, go back a couple more from there.
