STEEZUS_CHRI5TAll events will be streamed on YouTube
Wait what for real? You mean this year I'll be able to see more than 7 pixels and my computer won't get STDs from random asian streaming websites?!
Neat.
EDIT:
Nvm, I just found the broadcast schedule. Most of the finals will either be on ABC or ESPN, so looks like we back on the stream digging squad bois. http://www.xgames.com/events/2020/aspen/schedule/tv

I’m surprised X Games is still going. Maybe I’m just old but I feel like the hype and money and views has had to of fallen off. The cost to hold and put this on is so over the top.
Correct me if I’m wrong with that. I’m very curious as I don’t pay attention to this as much anymore.

You're wrong, xgames is insanely popular haha its way more than just skiing brother.

i have a hard time imaging it going away any time soon. it basically can tout itself as THE winter sports event and they have big time sponsors (Jeep, US Navy, etc)
and i hope it never dies. we all criticize aspects of X but it's a sick event and the biggest throwdown of the year in terms of competitions in my eyes
and it's gotten better and better. these days wallisch commentates sometimes, the rails actually affect people's scores, the courses have gotten a bit more creative, real ski and real snow are dope and have packed rosters, henrik did his first nose bud trip 16 at X big air...

I used to go every year back in middle and HS. I went last year for the first time in awhile now that I'm graduated...school out east always started back up like the week before X so I missed a solid 5 years.
But boy was it fuckin whack. It felt like the vast majority of people there were a bunch of hammered frat/srat members from CU/DU/CSU who just wanted to rave for Kygo and the Chainsmokers. The badass athletes soaring above the superpipe, hucking big air, and boosting fat tricks on their sleds seemed to be reduced to a somewhat underappreciated sideshow for a lot of the people I saw wandering around.
Maybe I'm jaded but I do get that there are different ways to enjoy X for different people. I was just a bit put off that now it seems more like a bunch of people show up from their pregame to get good spots for the concert that night and there happens to be a dope ski comp going on in the meantime. Idk. Doesn't stop me from still going and watching sick shit be thrown down but I guess I'm still adjusting to the new vibe.

Well those people/culture/vibe you're jaded about is supporting the event basically. There are tons of kids watching in the front row of every night event, the passion you had still exists.

Do you know of ESPN is the main backer putting up the majority of the funding? I’d assume the sponsor money goes to ESPN - but does ESPN pay Aspen said amount for all support and overhead associated? And prize money pool?
I guess the TV and add revenue has to be worth it and they are making profit. It’s been going for like 20 years.
In the athletes eyes, is this still the number 1 thing for them? Or has an FIS circuit or Olympics now shadowed X Games?

Xgames is still #1 especially with the Olympic selection process. Like I said, you're thinking pretty small here, skiing is the smallest sport in Xgames, I think you're underestimating the audience.
Sponsoring the xgames is expensive, its a big ad campaign for whomever is the title sponsor, usually Jeep, monster is a big sponsor, the Army, etc like bruh the amount of money is ludicrous and TV is a huge part of that.
The in-person scene is very popular, tons of tents/sponsor booths, big music acts, its a legit shit show on the weekends, they are making a shit ton of money and Aspen loves it too, brings in a good amount of money every year for the town.

Right on. I guess just not paying attention to this stuff I didn’t realize it was still going so strong. That’s good.

Oh 100% I know and I try my best not to pass too much judgment because of that. Just still adjusting to the evolution of the event that occurred while I was gone.

Fuck was really hoping it would all be on youtube. Any recommendations on where to find streams?

Yeah were a long ways away from that my guy. Hit up your parents/relatives/friends for a cable account and you can stream it on espn. Otherwise google is your friend, im sure you can figure it out.
Yeah tricked you bro, its only some stuff. Knuckle huck, mens big air eliminations, mens ski slope elimination, girls big air final, girls superpipe final, all on youtube
The knuckle huck event sounds new for this year, but I’m definitely gonna have to tune in. Probably gonna have some mind bending shit happening then and the world will be exposed to The Bunch seeing that Magnus and Peyben are some of the competitors in the event.
