Skier dies at Winter Park

Resorts are very hush hush about skier deaths. About a dozen people die every year in ski resorts in Colorado.

It’s definitely higher statewide. I have a friend who deals with resorts getting sued and he’s had 2 deaths already this year.



Lots of people just want to ski steep terrain in powder. Part timers who don’t bother going to the hill if that’s not the conditions create slides and fuck things for everyone.

The article says that the skier was found in the trees next to an intermediate run.... my guess would be they either hit a tree or got stuck in a tree well... either way, not good for Winter Park.


when I worked in Aspen, nobody was ever “declared dead” on the mountain. Everyone was always transported and the hospital declared it to take some of the heat off the ski resort. In my 4 years at Aspen, there were probably 6 in bounds deaths; a couple more out in the backcountry.

Grew up in WI but always wanted to go to Tech for school. BoHo is all there really is to ski around here unless you don’t mind paying $65/day for 500’ vertical with blues 🤷🏻‍♂️ I got spoiled out west. Looking to find more snow next winter (CO, MT, OR, WA, WY)

its pretty hush hush stuff tho at resorts. looks bad to people trying to plan vacations, and kinda kills the positive vibes hearing about people getting smoked out there
