It's all part of the snow dick measuring contest, pretty annoying sometimes when you want the actual truth. I now look exclusively at NOAA weather stations reports and not resorts snow reports.

Alta does the same shit all the time. I'd say you can shave off 10-20% of their advertised annual snowfall to get the actual number, same goes for most of the Cottonwood canyons resorts, but in my experience to a lesser extent than Alta.

Haha I wasn’t talking shit just had no idea that’s the elevation. As long as you’re enjoying the mountain, it really doesn’t matter if you’re at 13K or 4K

I’m about to do this to snowshoe
they frequently predict and publish cooler temps than actual , Same for snow predictions and accumulation, when it’s clearly gonna rain they’ll say snow if they think it’s “close”
makes planning a trip , especially in this global warming era tougher
only positive is I did go when I otherwise wouldn’t

Skied Killington today. They reported 7” overnight. More like 3”. Whatever 10” they got a few days ago seems to have disappeared. It’s not hard to look at the snow on top of cars in the morning and see they’re lying through their teeth.

Alta and Snowbirds social media marketers got into it on instagram a while back over some funny videos about traversing that came out lol. I love snowbird but its super rich hearing them chirp alta for having too many traverses when a lot of their fun terrain is carved out by beaters traversing under sweet cliffs
