2019 Really made a comeback for portfolios

Anyone look at their managed investment (e.g. retirement, HSA, 529) year end performance for 2019? First 3 months last year all my accounts actually lost money, as did most people. They pulled it out of their asses, particularly in the past couple months and ended the year with around 27% gain fugggggggggg

Obviously I'm not delusional and know this won't happen every year but just wanted to cheer and say 2019 was good to us.

Also for all you kids in your early 20's, start putting into retirement now no matter how much. Compound interest is a beautiful thing.

Edit: HSA probably isn't managed directly but rather put into a variety of managed funds.

Yep, 2019 was a great year for me. I hit a 10-figure net worth way quicker than I was expecting thanks to the great economy and my SPY calls.

Fed's Quantitative Easing + corporate stock buybacks + tax breaks that further fuel buybacks + billions in inflows to ETFs, mindlessly buying more for the sake of buying.

Don't get me wrong it was a great year for equities, but it'll be interesting to see what happens when monetary policy ( lowering rates) no longer stokes the fire. The Fed will be pushing on a string.

Thats because trump knows what the fuck he is doing economy wise. Hes got a 160 iq which means about 1 in 10,000 people are as smart as him. The left wingers who dont trust trumps maneuvers are literally children compared to him, as ironic as that sounds.

i'd sell everything i had in stocks, already did at their highs weeks ago, we will not see those numbers for a long long time from now.



debatable what you do from there, but get the fuck out of IRA's and 401ks etc

We were entering a relection cycle in 2019. Economy tends to do prett good around then as it is a big factor in getting re-elected

scared? wise, maybe. i'd wait to buy until things bottom out, any buying now will sustain huge losses, possible bankruptcies.

Right, better to buy at record highs. Bankruptcies? Maybe if someone is not in a position to be buying, like buying on margin. Its only a loss if you sell for less than you bought in for. For anybody looking to stay in the market for 40-50 years, this is a great opportunity coming.

this will be worse than the recession - if your goal is to invest in stocks or property/land, wait until the value has bottomed out and then jump in. we have a long way down to go :\

No joke, the house we bought in 2014 is worth about 3X what we owe on it now, we have been able to borrow against the equity at extremely low rates for projects and upgrades to the property, which increase the value more than what it costs to do them with sweat equity and DIY project management skills. Depends on the neighborhood I guess but everything has gone completely Apeshit in the Seattle region in terms of value, population is expected to grow by another million people in ten years or whatever fasten your seatbelts belts and get rich buying property.
