theA6ENCY100% do-able
shin-bangYea you could. But why would you want to?
ON3PSkierMostly just to clean up the setup. Getting a pair of custom Jeffery 116’s and I want to have the ability to just have the ski as clean as possible.
kalle.i get your point, but i honestly think that the cast setup looks pretty damn clean as well and makes people think what's going on with these bindings because they look kinda different.
shin-bangThese are my thoughts as well. Cast alone will absolutely rip. Functionality is great. The only “advantage” you’d be gaining is cosmetic.
N41v131355check TGR theme on cast, I've written a post on using CAST with inserts. TLDR: you have to be extremely precise with inserts, like really precise, not the average inserts job or otherwise you'll have issues with switching toe pieces
ON3PSkierSo how big of a deal is it all and all?
No.QuarterI bet if you do inserts you will probably use them like twice and realize how completely unneccessary they are.
Now if you were to do this for the purpose of running a Cast setup on multiple skis that is totally valid.
TheWeazYou have no good reason to do this. The cast base plate it exactly the same size as the normal one, you wouldn’t be “cleaning up” anything, maybe you could use inserts for just the brake holder so you could take that off but thats the only extra piece involved in the cast versus regular pivots. You would also need extra toe pieces with the standard toe pedestal on it unless you enjoy taking your bindings apart every time you want to do this swap.
Gunks_JesseHave you worked out the fasteners yet? I want to do the same thing - quiver killers with cast pivot 18, but because I want them on multiple sets of skis. The guys over at Cast said people have done this, but were unsure of the fasteners.
