Rope tow or tow rope

Coming from Minnesota we have a shit tone of rope tows. Do you call it a rope tow or a tow rope?

I’m from ice coast and there is barely any but I’d saw a rope tow is for park and tow rope is everything else

Rope tow is what you use on the ski hill.
Tow rope is what you use to get your car out of the ditch.

Rope tow is the whole system.

The ‘tow rope’ is the rope you’re holding onto.

TBH I've always said tow rope and never knew anyone said it the other way around...
