BiffbarfYou're not gonna go much faster. I mean maybe, idk.
The benefit of a good wax is how smoooooth the ski pivots and slides. Less likely to hang up in chop and less grabby/sticky everywhere else. The slicker the base, the more feedback you get from your edges too. You may just have to feel it to believe it
HYP3R_REAL1TYThe ski shop guys always look in horror when I hand them my skis and they check out my bases.
I wax like 1x every 2-3 weeks
Loud710I feel like theres a mental disorder for that sort of thing
DIRTYBUBBLEAm I the only person here who waxes once or less per season?
freeskibum82anything slides on the ice coast. wax is really only necessary for us early season when they are making snow and late season when it gets to be mash potatoes and the temperatures fluctuate a bunch
OregonDeadI haven't waxed any skis since May. Do you think this is like a tolerance break? When I do wax am I going to feel like I am going even faster than I would if I just kept them waxed all the time?
ThAtDuDeNaTeWax is the most important part of skiing. Some tricksters will try to tell you its the boots, but no its def the wax. Dont be an anti-waxxer
SnickleFrizIf you don't wax you will build up a tolerance for no wax.
Be careful not to use your full dose when you get back into waxing.
You might have an adverse wax reaction, or wax overdose.
danbrowni think i've owned more pairs of skis than times i've waxed. and that's not a humble brag or anything, just a healthy combination of ignorance and laziness
OregonDeadthat makes sense
also have to wonder if the tolerance is context specific
does if feel faster to wax someplace unfamiliar?
Moist_OatmealHow much is it to get your skis waxed? My buddy works at a ski shop so I get wax for life for $50 and can bring them in anytime I want. I think it's like $75 or $100 without the discount but that's on the east coast. Wonder if it's different elsewhere.
SnickleFrizThat may be a little much. I worked in a shop, but not really customer-facing. I would wax friends' skis for free and strangers' for a six pack.
Seems like everyone here waxes once a season (if that), so if your paying $50 for one, or even two wax jobs, that is pretty high.
Moist_OatmealSorry, I may have said it wrong. I paid $50 up front and I get waxing for life. If you didn't get the discount it would be like 75-100 for life.

SuspiciousFishThats actually a pretty legit program. I really enjoy waxing my skis though. Especially back in the day before kids when I could hit my chillum and watch the liquid wax drip onto the bases and solidify. There is something zen about it.

Rparrupdate: my wax addiction seems to be worsening. Sometimes I even find myself waxing after only 1 full day of park skiing
I feel fast as fuck and nobody can stop me
