ChakaYes, new brakes will work with old fks/pivots... but new brakes are about 100$. You are better off trying to bend the brakes already on the older bindings before spending that much money. It’s a bit of a lost art these days but there are plenty of old threads and videos on bending fks brakes.

Cream_SauceThere are probably thousands of skiiers on pivots that 20 or more years old. I exclusively ride pivots, usually the black and gold 15-din ones from the 90's that I pull of old race skis. I ride at 11/12 din and have used them anywhere from icy 70 foot kickers at COP to hut trips in rogers pass and I've never pre-released or hurt my knees skiing. Never felt a different between old ones and new 18 din ones, but I have broken the toepiece on the one pair of plastic 14 din ones I had. I swear by the things.
katrinaOh I agree I ski them too. You just have to be cognizantof where you get used bindings from because you don't always know what they've been through. And if you're going to buy a pair of bindings and then spend $100 on a brake you're getting close to where I would assume you could afford a new binding, that was all i meant.

Cream_SauceYou literally said in your first post that you woudn't trust old bindings and you advise people not to use them. If you don't want to bend brakes, you can still use the old race FKS on park skis, bend the brake or just ski without brakes. Even if you do spend 100$ on brakes, you can often find old race skis with FKS on them for like 50$.
I never spend more than 100$ on a pair of FKS personally, and I just pick them up for my stash when I see good deals. Same thing with used skis, without bindings you can often find some wicked cheap deals and just stash em up, I only use park skis that I buy for under 100$ and slap old FKS on em.
cydwhitAre you getting those bindings release tested? If you're not, all your super cool experiences really don't matter.
And the fact that you're running them without brakes makes me wonder if anything you're saying is worth paying attention to?
To OP, Trina is right, for the price of old binders + new brakes you're probably better off just finding a deal on new binders with the right size brakes. Used bindings are a crapshoot, and it's just not worth the risk. Knees are expensive. Sitting a season out thanks to injury is never worth saving a few hundred bucks.
