willysworldI remember my first beer!! Haha child you know nothing. Real big mountain skiing is harder than riding park. Have you seen most of these park kids ski powder ? Even Bobby Browns technique is laughable same with Henrik watching them ski terrain makes me want to vomit. A real skier should able to excel in all forms. Including park, pipe , rails , urban, , pow booters and real big mountain. aka Tanner, Sammy , Candide, Adam Delorme. The only guys of today’s generation that excel in all aspects is Parker White , the Logan Brothers and Duncan Adams, Kye Peterson, Logan Pehotta is because they grew up learning the fundamentals of how to carve a turn properly. You kids are idiots and this is why skiing is going downhill we don’t respect the legends of our sport like we should and we don’t respect the fundamentals of skiing. In sports like surfing or skateboarding fundamentals are the core of a athletes respect from how they push (skate) or how they carve a rail and do a cutback (surfing). If you can do a double cork 10 but can’t carve a turn then there is something using wrong with you. But if you can carve a turn you don’t need to know how to do a sub 10. The fundamentals are the most important part about skiing. Skier kids have always been seen as the biggest kooks in action sports and it’s cause of stupid posts and stupid opinions like the one the OP holds. Pull your head out of your ass and go learn to ski properly. Big mountain skiing is on a whole lot higher level than park skiing.
In all respect, this is the exact kind of arrogant and condescending attitude that not only reflects how shitty of a person you and like-minded people like yourself are, but has no place in the ski community. Take your negativity somewhere else. I'm sure you can find a whole lot of heated threads on TGR or something, but leave NS for those who want to stay stoked on skiing no matter who you are or how you ski, and keep an open mind towards new and non-conventional styles.
First off, neither Bobby Brown nor Henrik's technique is "laughable." You chose two incredibly well-rounded skiers who have proven themselves in a number of challenging disciplines, and Bobby in particular has been crushing the backcountry scene since recovering from his knee injury.
Second, skiing is not going downhill. Not one bit. With our sport being added to the Olympics, the number of skier-owned companies growing, more am' level competitions being added to comp' circuits and expanded upon, the female scene gaining recognition, and the growth of mainstream presence, there's no doubt that skiing is only growing. Sure, the whole demographic issue is real, (skiers being generally older and all that jazz), but at the same time there are plenty of pockets within the industry that are actively trying to make it more accessible; (ie. academies that offer generous scholarships, and even small efforts like Vishnu packaging their skis in recycled cardboard to save everyone a few dollars!) There are undoubtedly issues within the ski industry, but it's most definitely not dying...
Third, skier kids have been "seen as kooks in action sports" because of the beef with snowboarding and how that has developed. This, and this is alone, is the reason for a whole lot of unjustified turmoil, (now that snowboarding is widely accepted and welcomed, unlike during its early days), and not because of threads like this. That's a ridiculous thing to say.
Telling someone to pull their head out of their ass and learn to ski properly after saying that Bobby and Henrik's style makes you want to vomit is beyond contradictory. If you're athletically capable of stomping a dub 10, you could probably learn how to "carve properly" in about 2-3 runs. Whether this is caused by your fear of hitting rails, big jumps, and whole lot of other crippling insecurities... I can't say, but it definitely shows how closed-minded you are.
Try just enjoying the sport and being less critical, you'll live a far more enjoyable life and ultimately appreciate skiing even more.
