What’s up with all the goobers riding AT setups in the resort?
I don’t understand, I see so many goobs at the resort riding AT setups and getting on the lifts. I’m sick of seeing these fuckin goobers everywhere. I’ve seen more kingpins then pivots lately
I’ve used stolen rental poles or mismatched found/hand me down poles for like 15 years, but with a gear allowance now, I grabbed some adjustable black diamond poles and they aiight. I swear I’ve broken them already though.
But yes, I’m the douche hitting rails with adjustable poles lol.
Im just fuckin around, i nabbed a sweet pair of adjustables last week myself and love em. Ive been in the same boat as you though lol, every pair of poles ive had in the last 4 years have been taken from ski resort hotel lost and founds. I have a sweet collection of mismatched swix poles

CLQdamn straight i've never hiked a mountain to ski before, catch me drinking beers on a lift and lappin the park with the boys. Enjoy spending hours walking uphill hahahahahah
You must be that dickbag highschooler who sits in the corner and talks shit about everyone that doesn't look like you. Get the fuck over yourself. Also everyone drinks beer, that's not making up anything.

Lol I love it when those kids talk shit on me for bringing pow skis into the park, until they realize I can do more in the park on pow skis than they can on their park skis!
Irony - Park City people here dishing on AT set ups - that is too funny.... As Glen Plake says, its a golf course tipped on its side. Little Cottonwood is where you'll find the real soul skiers

Aluminum ones are garbage. Gotta go with the titanium ones for an arm and a leg. Then bring them in the lodge with you cause youre too scared to leave them outside.
This thread came to mind as I skied back through the resort after a backcountry lap yesterday. Tech bindings, light boots, adjustable poles, airbag pack, radio, lightweight helmet and sunglasses, no goggles. My legs were shot, the inbounds snow was terrible, and I was survival skiing, trying to avoid the holiday gapers on a cat track back to the car. I 100% looked the part of a gaper with a tech setup, but I'd also just skied one of my favorite lines in incredible conditions. So whatever, win some, lose some.

honestly we should praise these kinds of efforts, that would have been one hectic ski down.
Idk if it is just me, but all these touring people at the resorts in their mid 30s and above, are almost always pompous, self righteous pieces of shits, have yet to meet one of them that is chill. What a shame.
even at our indoors, people show up with 500 gram tech bindings even lighter than kingpin! I dont get it, the indoors is pretty much only cool if you race (one side) and park (other side) the narrow in between between the 2 is uber shitty and full of misc forreigners that cant ski.
for outdoors.. people will show up for even the black runs skidding slowly down vibrating their 1100 gram touring setups....

DeebieSkeebiesadjustable poles give you +5 stamina and +5 powder skiing ability
In defence of adjustable poles, no need to carry two pairs of poles when flying, can ski normally around the mountain and then shrink em for the park, gotta keep that bag weight down at airports
What's fucked is that they seem to stop to switch to downhill mode right around where the lift lets off and fuck everything up. Makes my head explode. Almost as bad as jerries stopping at the lift line entry and blocking it standing there doing who fucking knows what.
I know this dude who bought a $1300 AT setup to go ski resort. He said that he was going to go backcountry skiing and that's why he bought them but it's been a whole season and he doesn't plan on owning any safety gear or skins. Like why would you ever buy that crap to not use it??

He doesn't plan on owning skins?! Maybe he will be carving fishscales into his bases xc style

He's one of those guys with Black Crows and Shifts..... who the hell knows what he's planning on doing lmao
And yeah, he doesn't own skins and doesn't plan on owning them. He's a strict resort skier and tells friends that he skis backcountry because he owns that setup.
while I've come to accept people touring up groomers at the ski hill, the shit that has been bothering me this season is groups of middle aged dudes touring up the run like 3 or 4 people abreast, taking up like half of the run. keep it single file please there are side booters that need sending
they actually put a touring run off to some offpiste here this weekend as well, and has a supernice choice of 3 different touring paths up to a local black hill, Im to fat/out of shape to go straight up, so need slacker terrain.
I own a pair of Black Crows with Shifts haha. I live in Alaska and ski our local mountain. It’s ran by the city and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Which means if you want to ski those days you have to hike. That justified the “goober” setup for me.

I take back what I said... he owns Marker Kingpins and Black Crow Nocta skis, not Shifts. He ONLY skis resort and only has inbounds gear (no skins or BC Avi gear). Overall he easily has a $1500 setup that could have been used instead towards an inbounds alpine setup.

Absolute beginner unknowingly spending as much money as possible theory confirmed
Tall and good for groom. I'm sold.
It was icy AF at Sugarbush yesterday, and I see homeboy in the lift line with his split board and air bag backpack. The snowboarders are catching on to the AT inbound trend. At least he had safety gear. Maybe he knew something I didn't.
