edit: Checked out reddit, couldnt find how he did it but apparently bone shattered, probably going to just cut it off.
Someone's speculation as to how it happened "Based off the photo of the bindings I can see those are FKS Pivot bindings. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how he managed to do this so I went down to my basement to look at a similar model I have on a pair of skis. Basically he must have had his thumb between the black leverage bar and the heel piece (neon yellow part) and then accidentally engaged the heel piece causing it to spring back very very fast against the leverage bar. There’s not really any reason to have your hand where he had it but I’m always going to remember this."- reddit user yevan

When Berman worked in the shop I work at he did that years ago, to this day his thumb still tingles constantly hahaha

So brutal. I clicked my middle and ring finger in my first pair of pivots. Luckily they were 12s and at the lowest possible setting. Still lost both fingernails. At the time I couldn’t even imagine what it would look like if the din was higher. Now I know...

Don’t play with unmounted pivots! This happened to a coworker of mine. Laughed my ass off when he told me. Def no injury like that though. You basically need to put the binding in a vice to undo this, there is nothing to leverage again

ha no thankfully it's not me, pics were sent through some circles last night. It's a friend of a friend here in SLC, and last I heard he was able to save the tip of his thumb from amputation

I am guilty of doing this as well. Pointer and middle finger caught in a P14. No serious damage but probably the most intense pain I've felt.

Moral of the story, buy STH2 and you'll never have this happen.
