Is confidence all that matters?

Seriously, is confidence, resilience, and optimism all that matter to have a good life? People tell me that, but I don't buy it. I feel like genetics plays a big factor; not only how you look, but your natural disposition towards charisma, your natural physical talents, your intellect, your willpower. Even if you learn to be confident, I think there are some things you just can't change. Tbh, I feel like "just be confident" is a lie perpetuated by people who won the genetic lottery, but I might just be pessimistic.

Ugly, fat, and short people will definitely have harder lives than most. And good looking people will definitely have an easier time developing confidence.

But at the end of the day you’re dealt the hand you have and sulking about it isn’t going to get you anywhere. So what if you’re ugly/fat/short? Doesn’t mean you can’t rise above and come out of it a charismatic and confident person. I totally understand being upset about it, you will have to work harder than the average person. But a good work ethic can be way more effective than a good set of genes.

Yes, when I was learning to lip on blind 2 I worked hard. Didnt get payed or anything, i would fall and get up again. I never quit until i could do them consistently. I am a wagecuck.

Put yourself in situations that are outside of your comfort zone. Do it a lot. Try to diversify.

I think the people you surround yourself have a factor on this as well. If you have people that build you up and lift you, you will feel better about yourself and build confidence that way. But if you have people that knock you down and make you feel bad about yourself, you’ll fall into a whole, or find motivation to get rid of the things you feel bad about.


me for instance, have a core group of people that really support me and make me feel awesome about myself. I also have people that infuriate me and make me feel shitty at the same time. But the good outweighs the bad and I like to think I have a good amount of confidence. And I’m not a great looking dude or super in shape.


but I’m working on it, been eating healthier and started a gym membership last week, slowly but surely will get back to being in shape again.

Definitely won’t let what strangers that hide behind a computer say about me effect how I feel about myself or the confidence I have IRL

Confidence is attractive no matter how ugly you look. Just think of it this way, being ugly and confident is a whole lot better than ugly and not confident. If you have confidence, life will be a hell of a lot easier.

I left my favorite pair of cowboy boots at the Stateline economy lodge and it’s hard being confident without them.

They were super sketchy when I called about them and acted like a week ago was a year ago telling me to fuck off cause I didn’t remember my room number etc. After they came into my room when I answered the door naked and shit I’ve been having weird interactions with Indians.

Being overly confident/to high self-esteem can give you a really skewed version of reality if it goes unchecked. The fall after realization is detrimental and can be kind of a rough mental recovery.
