Kinco vs Wells Lamont Mittens

I haven't looked into Kinco in a while but Wells Lamont definitely has a more refined product designed for skiing and not just all around use. They include things like adjustable cuffs, wrist straps, etc. Plus the hydrahyde is far beyond what Kinco can produce.

It's worth mentioning that while everyone thinks Kinco originated the work style glove, Wells Lamont has been around since 1907. They know their shit.

The best thing you could do is support a ski company.

I’ve rocked kinco axemen for multiple seasons. Durability is phenomenal although I have had to duct tape a thumb last season. Not the warmest but killer for durability.


hangers/loops are sooooo much nicer. Switched over to some 686 goretex mitts and have been blown away by how much better they are.

this isnt even a debate in my opinion. Ive been rocking the wells for 3 seasons now and they're the best gloves and mitts ive ever owned. ive tried to break them and they just keep going. super waterproof and comfortable. there's not need to break them in or smear some waterproofing shit on them. buy them, wear the hell outta them and have happy hands! straight forward

I've had both, the Wells Lamont mittens fell apart in one season. I would go kinco. I like the axeman but the other design is nice too.

I finally replaced my worn out mitts with WL and so far I am happy. We'll see if they last 5 years like my Saga (gasp!) mitts did.

I own both Kincos and WL Mitts. It's hard to say which is better though, kinco has amazing durability but you have to waterproof them a bit in order to make them alright for wet days. The WL mitts I got were a goodie in with a level 1 order. They arent the full leather wraps and are similar in looks (not sure about specs) to the Lifty mitt on WL's website. I use both interchangeably with Kincos for colder 10-5 and below and WL for anything else. Both resist tears very well (from trees, usage, and edge grabbing) but overall I just found the kincos to be beefy and not as freeing as the WL mits hence why I only use them for cold days. If I were buying a new pair of mitts rn, I'd be looking at these guys from WL. Plus from the looks of the mitts, they have the little "finger slots" (idk how to explain that but someone gets it) in the mitts that will keep your hands just a little warmer while still maintaining the functionality of a mitten.

I've never used Kincos but I love WL mitts. they're super warm and stay pretty dry unless your hands start to sweat.

I used to always use Kincos but I think I'm sticking with Wells Lamont now. The hydrahyde mittens are super toasty and very waterproof for a leather mitt, while the work style ones with the fabric back are also pretty warm and come in 2 packs for pretty cheap.

Biggest factor though is you don't have to break in Wells Lamonts, and even a well worn pair of kincos won't give you the dexterity of WL on day one.

Had a pair of Kincos for 3 seasons now. Still in as good a shape as when I got them, just real broken in. You can't destroy them and they are warm except for wicked cold days. Im in Colorado which is dry, and I've never once had a problem with them getting wet. For $20, they are probably the best value in skiing.
