[SF/Tahoe] Hi yall! Need recommendations

Wasn't sure to post this on regionals or here but seeing that ppl are more active here, I decided to post it on SG.

I'm visiting my boy's place up in San Fran for Winter Break (12/21~1/7) and we are thinking about doing a day trip to a local mountain. We thought about Tahoe but it's way too time consuming and expensive.

Any locals out in San Fran have any recommendations as to which mountain to hit or any other sort of help will be greatly appreciated!

I think you need to look at where SF is on a map...
Tahoe is going to be your closest option, you can drive it in 3 hrs

Dude hot up Sierra at Tahoe. It's only a little over a 3 hour drive if you start early enough. Really depends which part of the Bay you're buddy is located though to.

In my opinion when Tahoe is dumping Sierra is the best bang for your buck. By tickets now and you can get them for like 60 bucks.

Where are you traveling from?

What kind of skiing are you looking to do?

If you leave early out of the city proper you should be able to make any of the western resorts at Tahoe in under 3 hours.

Closest with serious terrain are Kirkwood and Sugarbowl.

Bear valley was mentioned, also Dodge ridge, these are both small family vibe kind of mountains with like 800' vertical. They're slightly closer and probably significantly cheaper for a day pass.

Tahoe resorts are only 3.5 hours away. You're going to SF, you aren't going to be skiing much closer than that. Closest place is probably almost 3 hours from the bay.

There are some pretty sweet smaller joints with decent prices. If you don't have any passes might be better to hit them.

Off to a pretty good start for snow
