This isn’t news. Bunch of comedians are doing this nowadays. I went to a Chris Rock show about a year ago and we were required to put our phones in sealed/locked bags before going in.

Nah I wouldn't care about that. Everywhere has no filming policies but they never work so I'd understand that. Seems like he doesn't want people talking about his show negatively in public. That's all. Really douchey to say you'd sue some nobody to oblivion who makes in a decade what you make in a night. Is more worried about his feelings getting hurt which is hilarious because he is quite a dick in general. Maybe it's a publicity stunt. Who knows, only saw it on the news today but guess been going on since last month for him

that's crazy IMO. if he's so concerned with people filming or being on their phones, then pay people to police it during the show. sequestering people's phones instead like they're entering the basement of the Pentagon is ridiculous

Heres the deal, they film a show, that someone is paying millions of dollars to licence and put on their platform (ie netflix) so ya they dont want anyone filming their content, that would ruin the value of their product.

For anyone who is confused, the nda doesn't even let you say anything about the show on social media other than "no comment". That's why it's weird. Idgaf about the joke stealing aspect. The most recent show wasn't notified of the nda requirement until the day before. So consider all the people who planned a whole night out of it; most probably wouldn't opt for a refund because it would ruin their plans. Silence is the price.

No I understand the concern and that’s understandable. But revoking people’s phones in 2019 for a comedy show is just the epitome of being dragged into the future kicking and screaming

There are dozens of other rules audience members are supposed to abide by and part of the show’s job is policing for those rules, e.g. dealing with loud audience members. Those same people can confront someone who is filming the show

Honestly, besides my colleagues who work with DoD I literally can’t think of another normal life situation that requires surrendering your phone, yet apparently this dude’s top secret dick and fart jokes necessitate it 🙄

I think Pete Davidson seems like a pretty likeable guy...grew up in a humble household, generally has pretty good jokes (IMO, I've only seen him on Weekend Update), is super outspoken about mental health issues and always stands up for NYPD/NYFD (his dad was in the Fire Department and died in 9/11)

People are just jealous he's mowing down legit every single A List celebrity...
