Frontside 270 Help

I got the backside down last season. I was at Holiday Valley this last weekend for their opening weekend and I was trying to get the frontside 270 out down but I was having issues getting it around. I eventually want to get to swaps this year so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The first one is so close! A little bit more practice should get you there.

Really focus on pedaling your right foot the second you land on the rail. All of the momentum for a front swap comes from digging the inside right edge (in your case) into the rail. You have to dip your right heel a bit while sliding to make it happen. You'll do this for swaps as well.

look towards the lip of the rail and your body will follow, in the clip you are looking down

Looks like all you need to do is kick your right foot out causing pressure on the tail and jump. It also helps to try and look over your right shoulder when landing even if you land looking up hill and then bring it around to your right shoulder to really get the trick around and add extra style points :)

^this. Setting yourself up the right way right when you get onto the rail will help a ton. Helps to set your shoulders up too - (not sure if I can describe this right but i'll give it a shot): you'll want to keep your hips/feet perpendicular to the rail of course, but you'll want your shoulders opened to the front of the rail a bit, so that when you pedal and begin to spin at the end of the rail you can snap your shoulders around and the rest of your body will follow. Thinking of how you get onto the rail will be as important as how you spin off of it. Hope that helps.

Pedaling just another term for setting your edge really. Here's a picture of "pedaling":




You'll want to do this more aggressively than what you did in your clip. You have to use your feet/legs/edges a lot to stop momentum, and like @P-wurps said your upper body plays a role too.

A wider stance definitely helps with this.

Success today. Took a couple hikes but I got it. Feels much better when I set harder and the spin feels more in control. Also looking where I wanted to be and not down made a worlds difference.

I was was hoping to take a vid but the only one I got was of me doing a big daffy. Anyways...

HV was like 60 something this weekend and they had 6 trails, a meh park, and 3 lifts so that sounds like a deal to me 😂
