The past 5 years (skiing wise) have been incredible. From trips to Killington for Rails to Riches with you shits to landing a job at camp, I’ve had some serious fun out on the hill. Whether it was throwing prizes to kids at loon or attempting to manage the office at camp, everything along the way has been life changing. I’ve met so many amazing people and made great friends around the US, Canada and Europe because of this site and it’s truly been a pleasure.


I am 100% positive none of that would have been possible without all you fuckers. So in honor of thanksgiving, this thread is dedicated to all you degenerates who make skiing great. Feel free to share your best memories of Newschoolers!

Watching this site grow up and skiing develop and progress has been some shit you couldn’t make up if you tried. Not just NS but skiing, the internet, society- it is a lot to take in when you reflect on how crazy the last 20 years have been.

I’ve thankful for those of u that helped me educate myself on bootfitting resulting in a boot that is like it was grown around my foot from birth, I’ve skies for 24 years and this is the first year I’ll spend in comfy great performing boots and I’ve learned so much about skiing in general

and of course for the lifties, snow makers and park crew

Honestly as a kid who didn't ski much other than a week at Brighton each year, moving out to salt lake I wasn't sure what to expect. Park rats were always scary and wearing intimidating clothing. 3 years have gone by and the mountain community welcomed me with open arms and NSers has been a big part of that. Still meeting people at the bars who are on here and having a great time. Thanks for being awesome everybody!

If you're at hood early enough I'm actually heading up for some of the late spring. Was too poor last year.

It's only really just starting but ,without newschoolers there would be no Fauna Skis. The members in the ski building thread in gear talk was a real community-within-a-community of people sharing ideas, our own progress and helping each other out with problems and build questions. They helped me with the early stages of my designs and it served as a great platform to expand into what I have built today.

Personally, I've been on newschoolers for a decade after being introduced to it as a hub of freeskiing content and specifically freeski gear. I've met some of my best friends through newschoolers and it was my introduction to the community which I would like to be at the heart of my career.

wow okay, I'm going to expand upon my lame ass post before. Without Newschoolers I would not have some of my actual best friends. The friends may be spread across the globe, but seeing them/talking to them is absolutely incredible. Likewise, I've had a few boyfriends because of it too. And the best ski buddies, making me feel less lonely. The opportunities I've had because of it are incredible. From working X Games to WCS 10 I cannot believe how this stupid lil website has changed my life.

My favourite memory that involves NS is when I found the “tell us the story about how you lost your virginity” thread. Theres a reply thats completely fake and turns into the fresh prince of bel air intro song.
14 year old me had that copy and pasted in the notes on my phone. Not long after I let my mom have a look at my ‘christmas wishlist’ and she went snooping and found that note and got mad at me for having it.
I also got a message after posting a crash video and got something like $180 for selling the rights to that video lmao.
Helped me buy my first camera lens

i tooo, have met a lot of you guys and shaped friendships that have lasted years, some where I haven’t actually met the person, just rad internet homies. Met oregondead on the chair at hood, deebieskeebies treated me to one of my favorite days of skiing ever at snowbird. Lived some of u rat bastards for a month in govy as well as sharing beers and stories in New England.


NS is rad. The less time I deal with trolling with the 12 year olds in nsg the better lol, I gotta get back to being a functional, productive member of the website rather than a jaded troll.

Met some great people through NS and hope to meet more. Some of the NS guys got me through rough spot in life this last year. Site has its issues but there are a whole lot of quality humans on here

I like this thread.

NS helped me go from a Midwestern kid who knew nothing about the actual ski industry to someone who's entire life now revolves around skiing. I doubt I'd have my current job, live in the mountain town that I do, or be nearly as happy with life if it wasn't for my CO friends telling me about "this website where a bunch of 12-year-olds yell at each other about weed and peeing in each other's butts, and sometimes posts cool videos."

And then, of course, it's also just a really good way to waste time, think about skiing when I'm not able to ski, and discover a bunch of my favorite skiers, filmers, and photographers. Thanks, NS.

I just now remembered my very first time on Newschoolers. When I started getting into skiing I watched a lot of Colby James West. I think it was because there used to be videos from Freeskier magazine on itunes podcast and I could download them onto my ipod and watch them, and there were a good handful with Colby.

anyway, my brother showed me this hilarious video (at least at the time it was) of Colby doing an audition for Big Brother, and iirc it was on NS! In the years following I may have browsed the site a bit, but not much, and probably only when trying to rewatch that video.
If anyone knows where I can see it again I’d love a link.
