Japan 2021 Recon.

So I'm looking to go to Japan in January of 2021. I am currently looking at the Hakuba region as the most likely option. I am wondering what knowledge you guys have for lodging, transportation, resort suggestions, etc. Any information helps as I am trying to keep the costs of this trip down.
