Good lord I saw this ski at REI today and the flex is downright dreamy. It basically has butter zones from the Invaders / Anthems, and a nice stiff flex underfoot. Anyone riding these? I know it's unchanged from last years besides the name (can't think of it), and the profile is the same as the old big trouble. When my UFO 100's kick it I will certainly be picking up a pair of these. Reasonable price at $499 as well. It's been a loooong time since I've been on some Dynas, I know they are the "cool" brand but damn they have always made a quality ski.
OregonDeadthanks. not really making this an easy decision although I guess I can rest easy on the assurance of a big sweet spot. I was really looking at the forward line when I first started looking at these but then started seeing reviews about people splitting the lines and loving it. probably go closer to the front like but still undecided. decisions decisions
Put on some quality demo's and then you can move around whenever!
LemuelOh man you guys are getting me going again. Time to start looking for a good deal.
BiffbarfCorbetts, 4 hunnit snow pesos
they shipped it down here for free and I got a fat discount by choosing to pay with my card and letting my card give me the daily exchange rate. no exchange fee on my card. kinda had to hunt to click on that option but worth it over the paypal exchange fees
Just got mine today and getting them mounted as we speak. I had to bring a 6-pack to 'encourage' the guys in the ski shop to get them done overnight so I have them for the weekend.
skeirmanWould the 187's be able to handle a 6'4" 215# aggressive type 3 skier? I've never skied a ski this short but these look sick and the price is right.
'Handle' is subjective. They have a good flex profile but at 215 they will be very very easy to bend. They're pretty damp but if you're expecting some charger you can lean into this isn't the ski for you.

Vacationing in Salt Lake City and got a set of Fisher 102FR on a huge deal and used the bindings off my 187cm Menace 98s. Will now be overweight for flying back to Canada with 3 pairs of skis, so I’m selling my beloved Menace 98s to someone at a deal. May pick up a pair again when back home but I’ll pass on a great deal to someone else for now. Asking $175 or best offer.

Posted in buy/sell but adding this here too. Pair of 181cm Dynastar Slicer Factory(same ski as Menace 98, just different topsheet) that was used for hours by someone used to metal directional chargers so not his type of ski. Selling without bindings for $150 US and he’ll split shipping from Denver. Add some Attack 13 or Pivots from Corbetts for a great combo under $300!
I’m gonna try and re learn how to tune edges; I can’t make the menace’s turn as well as some better skiing friends can so it must be the tune :). I look forward to spending more time on them; my favorite ski for now!

Check the flatness of the bases first(or get someone to check them) as skis that are hard to turn are usually “edge high” where the bases/edges are higher than the middle of the base. You put a True Bar/flat edge across the bases all along the ski with a light on the other side and check for areas of light coming through under the bar/flat edge. Edge high(light coming through under the bar in the middle of the ski) will be harder to get on edge and harder to get out of a turn when you’re on edge. A simple stone grind will flatten the bases and then you can set your base and side edge angles from there.
You’ll be turning with the best of them after a stone grind and tune!

Good call. I may try to flat file myself. Pics of Tip, Center, Tail, Tip, Center, Tail:

Looks like it’s a bit edge high tip and tail on the base which is common. Would have caused some of the “hard to turn” issue.
Really need a stone grind to flatten the base before doing the edges but you could drag a bastard file flat across the base on a 45 degree angle and drag it tip to tail with a little pressure to see if some areas catch. Drag the file across the catching spot in one direction lifting in between passes while cleaning the file often. File until it doesn’t catch anymore. Won’t make it perfect but will cut down the high spots a bit. Then set your base bevel(1 degree) and side angle(2 or 3 degrees).
