PyduckLast year Atomic decided to change cuff adjustment screw.You used to be able to loosen torx screw and easily set your forward lean .Now even with the new tool the cuff doesn’t seem to loosen.Do you have to just force it forward or take the whole thing apart.I have had plenty of other Atomic’s I am not sure what improvement this new cuff screw makes.Seems like every move they make is to try to force you into the shops.They don’t even include the tool with your boots anymore. I had to go black market to get a tool

There are two types of cuff alignment in the Hawx range of boots: screwed cuff alignment (which is dismantle-able) and riveted cuff alignment (which is not dismantle-able). Both use a pin spanner to make the adjustment, but with the screwed version you will need to loosen the screw first.

There are no proprietary tools required- they are available at hardware stores and/or bike shops. Screwed versions require a torx 30 and a pin spanner, riveted versions just require a pin spanner.

It's hardly a move to make you go to a shop- you just need to own the right tools, just like you would with a bike or car. When you buy a bike or a car, they don't come with tools. We'd rather save the money that a tool costs (which 99% of the time gets thrown away anyway) and put it towards using nicer plastics, nicer liner foams, nicer alloys, etc.

nailed it. and the average customer doesnt adjust their own boots. Any good shop should be doing that for them

I am not a average customer and I have worked plenty of shops I do all my own work beginning to be sorry I asked.Atomic changed the cuff screw on the hawx 130 last year.I was only wondering if anyone had experience with adjusting forward lean.I can do it but it seems harder than it should be. Oh god I hope I haven’t broken any ski laws.And yes I mount all my own bindings.I trust me more and if I screw up I know who to blame

What boot are you talking about? All 130 models of Hawx boots use screwed cuff hardware and it's been the same basic design for years.

Just to be clear and make sure we are talking about the same parts on the boot- forward lean is done through the Power Shift piece on the back of the boot, not the cuff hardware at the ankles. Cuff hardware at the ankles is for cuff alignment, the side-to-side movement of the cuff.
