Stephan Drake and DPS

I know that this website is not the most backcountry oriented site but just wondering if anyone has thoughts on Drake leaving DPS skis. Seems to be over a dispute with an investor which is really too bad... if anyone knows more about what the dispute was, I am curious to know. I am also curious about how this will affect their skis design and quality

I’ve never ridden a pair of these skis but handled them and they are so light.

The stereotype of “only rich dentists ski them” pretty much seems accurate from everyone I’ve seen use them.

I cannot say I have ridden them either but they always catch the eye. I have heard good things about the lotus 120s and a few other lines they make, but I have heard that the "dentist powder ski" holds true for most of their lineup

Whenever I come across them in a store and really look at them it definitely makes me want to ride a pair.

I have a lot of respect for the guy. The packs of Orthodontists and stock brokers from Boston vacationing in Park City are annoying as hell sometimes but, I mean, who wouldn’t want to sell skis to them all?

They are meh, dps disappointing powder skis. They sure know how to market them though so can't knock them there.

This. My buddies and I sure as hell aren’t the ones keeping the lifts turning. I’ll gladly welcome that rich family from Houston back time and time again for as long as needs be.

Personally I don’t like them at all. I’ve skied a few different models/constructions and they’re not impressive to me. They feel like dead weight but I’m not the target audience so people who like them will buy them because it’s a good fit for them. They’re real popular in the Northeast, we sell out them at the shop I work at and they sell but the rich dentist stereotype is definitely true

That sucks to hear he's leaving. Glad I got a pair before they go to complete shit.
The rich dentist comment got me. I've always kinda thought the same.
I bought my first pair of DPS ever this season (for 1/2 off randomly in August at a ski shop).
I'm going a light as I ever have and am pretty stoked because I don't think performance is compromised =
