Why do people like skiing moguls

I think it’s a boomer thing, I just don’t get how they get excited over a slope covered in bumps it’s just tiring af for no good reason

SuspiciousFishA few things on Moguls:

1. Freestyle skiing was born from Mogul comps.
2. If you can ski Moguls you can ski anything.
3. The CU Freestyle ski team coaches made us ski moguls at least 80% of the day because it forces you to have good form.
4. Its fun as hell to look like a hood rat park skier and rip moguls better than crusty old guys.
5. Not every day is a pow day and a lot of open runs end up as moguls of some type so you might as well get used to skiing them.


Moguls grow your quad strength more than anything.
I like cruising through a nice mogul run to warm my legs up.
If you are a competitive freeskier you should do alot of moguls to gain leg strength which will make park easier.

Because when the mountain is crowded and the groomers & park become a shit show, the bump runs will still be empty because few people have the skills to ski the moguls.

I do get sad for the old days when I hear other skiers in the lift line saying,It’s really awful today I can’t believe they can’t go out and groom those bumps down. And when I see a review like one above.What determines expert ,how close you’re condo is to slope?

How does it feel to fly down a mogul line? Is it really like you're on the verge of "exploding"? I suck at skiing so I wouldn't know. I hit moguls fast one time on my frontside skis and I did a double somersault mid way down the hill. Been tentative on moguls ever since.

I mean are they just supposed to get piste skis and not expect to progress? Lol...

tip and tail rocker vs camber can definitely be a good thing to consider for a blue square rider. That rocker makes it easier to initiate turns and harder to catch an edge or have a hooky turn and just generally makes a ski feel shorter/more manageable


Yeah, this. And stiffer skis with more camber will help them rip harder and reward good fundamentals. There's definitely nuance to preference even at that level

Jk, bumps are fun but I couldn't ski bumps every run/every day. Just like park skiing, there is a time and place when they are enjoyable and times where I would prefer something else.

I'm not good at moguls, but I love the challenge. Moguls are where-you find the good skiers on some mountains. Old guys will see me struggle in the bumps and offer help. Always appreciated. If anyone in AZ skis bumps I'd buy you a beer for some tips. I'm hoping my K96s that i'm setting up will be ok bumpers.

Chubz.Bro t hall was set on course to be one of the best mogul skiers that ever lived...he was a favorite to be on the Olympic team when he was like 14...”pretty badass” is understatement.


Best moguls skiers that ever lived.. outside of Quebec. That place is a weird breeding ground for the best moguls skiers.

Haha Quebec breeds gnarly skiers in general. Absolutely unreal talent comes out of that place.

only way to stay warm while skiing in quebec is to hit bumps or hike rails lmao

Groomers.Like having vanilla ice cream every day for the rest of your life.I want texture.Roll your knees and ride your skis.....It’s bad enough you have to wait for something to get bumped up and then they come out and pulverize it into a slice of death corduroy.Save the whales but also the bumpa
