How tight do you crank down your skateboard trucks.

I pretty much destroyed my last set of bones bushings because i cranked the king pin nut down tight as fuck. This time around im going a little looser and it seems to be better.

Also, does anybody tighten down the rear truck tighter than the forward truck? I heard some pros do this and i like it so far.

My rear truck is tightened almost to the point that it wont turn and the front one is so loose that it wiggles. Saw a video of Daewon Song showing his setup and thought I'd try it, and I love it

Depends what I'm riding. On a mini ramp/small vert I go as loose as I can. On street I go medium

Usually leave them stock and let the loosen up in their own and crank em down a tiny bit when needed

From my experience bones bushings are good for about 3 weeks. In those first three weeks they feel amazing and there is absolutely no break in period. However, after those three weeks are up they get busted to shit. If you are okay with replacing bushings every 3 weeks then definitely go with bones. If not I would look elsewhere.

Except when speed wobble comes into play.

I agree with the loose front and firm-ish rear.

OP should just replace his bushings with a set made of delrin and call it a day.

Bushings also have a break in period. Cranking new bushings down right away will make em wear faster/may cause them to crack. Not saying thats what you did but definitely something to keep in mind.

Downhillers often ride less turny rear trucks with harder bushings bc it helps with stability at speed. The only problem is that it feels weird as FUCK riding fakie or switch.

Ik it says longboarding but this applies to any truck. If you feel like your trucks are too turny then get harder/fatter bushings, don't crank down your kingpin nut and deform the bushing.
Imo you should run your trucks as loose as possible without being able to move the bushing with your fingers, any tighter and you're restricting yourself.

Simple. Quarter turn.

Just screw the nut down until it touches, the first bit of resistance you get, then a quarter turn from there. You can also just hand tighten it down, then give it the quarter turn.
