They arent og skate. They had been making shoes for half a century by the time skateboarding came around in the 70s and 80s. The only people who wore converses skateboarding were too stupid to try some adidas indoor soccer shoes which are a million times better for skating than that paper thin converse detritis. Converse tried to rebrand themselves as a skate company just to make money and if you dont join me in calling out their bullshit youre a total cuck.

I’m not a cuck and ik that converse was a shoe people went to for skating when it was first originating but I’m not saying they branded themselves as a skate brand till recent years, I’m not denying that I’m just saying people have been using converse for skating for quite a while now

Yeah bc converse are cheep and thin soled. Just because some good athletes grow up wearing converse and get used to skating with them and they become great skaters DOESNT MEAN converse are good skate shoes. People are creatures of habit. Converse are not good skate shoes.

They waited until skating became uber cool before they joined the party tho. Thats my contention. They werent there from the start. They just crashed the party to make their brand seem core.

In 2003 converse was bought by nike. Maybe nike is behind the push into skateboarding for converse. I dont know. All i know is that one day converse was some
joke basketball shoe with no support, and the next day they were a core skateboard shoe brand. Its all bullshit though.

And honestly corporate companies make better skate shoes than “core” companies. Converse, Nike, Adidas, and New Balance have the most stacked teams and some of the best shoes. The only skater owned brands that rival them are Vans (which is technically a corporate company) and HUF (and they’re done making skate shoes after this year). Emerica, DC, Etnies, Les, and Lakai all look the same and are of equal or lower quality imo

Nike makes decent skate shoes tho. Converse chuck tailors are not good skate shoes. I respect nike for actually trying to make good durable skate shoes. Converse was all about pretending the paper thin chuck taylors were always made for skateboarding when their real best use was on chadsexuals who were trying to fuck completely clueless girls.

2) Similar to the Jordan 1, the flat sole and basic upper has made both of these shoes go-to' favorites for skaters YEARS before "skate" shoes were even a thing
3) CONS is the name of the actual skate division under converse which holds their actual skate lineup. Their team is fucking stacked and the Louie Lopez's shoe is fucking killer.
4) Chucks are still sold under the Converse name, and while many pros and skaters wear them, they are still not marketed as one of their official skate shoes.
5) Nike literally owns Converse so for you to say "Nike makes great shoes, but converse sucks" does not make sense at all

Converse were the first shoes skaters wore before there was such a thing as a "skate shoe" (see attached photo as an example).
Also the brand has been owned by Nike for over a decade, so even though they look different they are probably of similar quality to Nike skate shoes.
