Making boots smaller

I recently picked up some used FT drop kicks at a sale and they are too small (26.5) I have some FT Booters (29) but they are too big. I was talking to a boot fitter at my local mountain and he said you can make boots smaller pretty easily. Anyone got any ideas on how to do that? I really don't want to buy new boots.

What size are your feet? Am I an idiot or is your bootfitter working black magic, from my shop experience it's always easy to make a boot bigger (punching out the shell), but making it smaller doesn't go to well unless it's already close to a good fit. Are your toes close to the end a on the 29's? Insole/custom liners could fill up about a size of volume (I don't know it that's standard just my experience with a pair of too big langes). Provide more info plz

I wear a 10.5 in regular shoes. My toes are to the end but I have a ton of room on top of my foot. I think your idea of a insole in the liner would help. I also haven't heat molded them so that might help. Also in the shin of my boot there is a bit of room and Idk how to get rid of that.

next time you should look at all different types of boots, not just one brand
full tilts don't work for every foot
also what size shoe do u wear

bigger boots are a blessing. I just wear my running shoes inside the boot, that way I dont run the danger of getting my socks in the snow when taking boots off

For the shin ask your bootfitter to provide you with a spacer, for the volume issue I'd recommend trying the insoles and thenaybe upping it to a custom liner if you're still not getting the fit you want!

Yo a 29 is probably wayyyyy too big to full volume if you're a 10.5 shoe.

If you're serious, please don't even try. You can get hurt pretty bad floating around in clown boots.

The boot is THE most important part of your gear, don't try to shortcut it.

why dont you go to a bootfitter instead of playing feet roulette at garage sales? theres a reason that boots have pretty much 0 resale value

Yeah all of you are right. Im just a cheap ass who wants to have money to go to brighton this year instead of getting new boots. Im going to stick to the tricks y'all told me to make my 29's smaller, and If i get some money this season I will actually get some 27.5s that fit me. I also really don't want to have to remount my skis so I would like to stick with my clown boots if I can.

sell both your 26.5's and 29s, between the two you should at least be able to scrape up a used pair of FT's in the right size.

What does the shell test on the 26.5s look like? Does your foot touch the toe and heel of the shell?

I have a job at my local mountain, Im just stingy and would rather use a couple weeks salary on a trip out west instead of on boots that I got for $30. $30 is a whole lot better than $300-400

Honestly boots that fit right are 100% worth the cost. Everything about your skiing will improve.

What made you think they were too small? They may be able to be stretched or punched to make space where you need it.

Yeah I would go with this. An inch is 2.5cm which is actually slightly over what you would be looking for in a decent fit. Sounds. Like the 26 may well be absolutely fine for you. Take them to a fitter and have them checked out.

You'd have better luck punching out the 26.5 to closer to a 27.5 to fit you. you can get a low volume liner from intuition and then a minimal footbed and punch out the toe box of the 26.5. Wear a ultralight ski sock. the other idea is to put a wedge under the liner to ramp the foot some to pull back to toes.

Yea got a similar problem bought boots online looked like a mad good deal but realized too late that they were the high volume version of the boot, so they’re too wide fml. Lose quite a bit of precision when skiing end up a bit sloppy

I have skied in boots that were way to big for me for years. I went to a good boot fitter and they fitted me into a pair way smaller than I would normally go with and it’s crazy how much it helps. Get the size 26 punched and they will probably work fine

Measure your foot in cm. Not your shoe length, that's probably a 0.5-1 cm longer than your foot. You are probably 27-28cm. You might be able to get the boots punched out by a bootfitter but I'm not aware of the limit to how much they can punch it out...but I mean you might as well try.
29cm for a boot on a 10.5 shoe is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too big.

Then get them punched out. Do you have wide feet tho? Dropkicks are very narrow and low volume.

Ya no way is this a good idea. Find a used pair of boots 1 size too small. They all pack out. Your skiing will be ten times better in a smaller boot
