brogoldenhairit's filmed in very short bursts I'm pretty sure. Probably a winch or people pushing him and then skis free of aids for a few seconds, long enough to get the shot. Also helps when it's really steep. The films give the false impression of one continuos line he is ripping.

Steel bases would be too heavy, I expect most segments were normal skis with decent wax or edgeless skis.

DolanReloadedIm pretty sure a wax job would get raped within seconds of riding down a rock face.
