LukasSchroederthe correct spot for this is Media and Arts, there's plenty of threads there as well as people that can help with this.
I'd recommend looking for a used first generation Videomic pro - I bought mine for $300 years ago, and wouldn't expect more than $150CAD for it. or get a new/used Videomic go.
Just understand that you're getting what you pay for, and a $40 mic off of amazon isn't going to help much or last you long. especially if you're shooting in the cold.
HangryThe RODE Video Micro is only $60, and it does a phenomenal job for its price. I use it for skiing, biking, skating, and music, and it has yet to disappoint. I wouldn’t go for something much cheaper

Aricacriwould you still need a dead cat for the video mic pro?
Chubz. If you’re going to be filming skiing absolutely. A good mic is of no use when all you hear is wind. A good dead cat you’ll be able to do moderate to high speed follows with crisp clear sound. I picked up one with good ratings off amazon for I think 35 bucks a few years back. Gave me awesome sound every time. I was using a standard rode video mic, the step down from the pro and I loved every minute of use.
