My home mountain (Hickory) has recently started renovating their hill like crazy. New runs and lodge, that kind of thing.
But here's the issue. Last year, they had almost abandoned their park. They tucked it into the back of the property and basically left the skiers to build their own rails and features. Its owned by the city and skiers (before the renovations) always built their own features aside the great ones made by the groomers. Now, the jumps last year were super icy and abandoned, and its not like we could fix them because they were pretty large. The rails were half-assed and 80% of the groomers time was dedicated to grooming the cross-country trails.
Heres what important. Before they did the renovations, they did a huge user survey to see what people wanted. they rated support for different programs and freestyle/park got almost 85% support but, they still abandoned it.
This hill has huge potential, but with the weather getting colder I'm starting to worry about another sucky season. Im unsure of what to do and I have no idea if any of you do.
You don't know until you try.
TL;DR My local hill almost abandoned their freestyle park even though there was huge support for a better one. Do you think I'm able to get them to change or am I just being naive.
