If you truly love winter how could you live anywhere but summit county?

if you compare vail or park city or aspen to a summit county resort like breck or copper or a basin, by the time march rolls around, the first 3 resorts are already melting, while the summit county resorts are still in the depths of winter. Ive had it happen twice when the last weekend that resorts were open, summit county got like 2 feet of snow. I got to ski fresh powder at the end of april at copper and with the overcast sky you might have thought it was february at a place like park city. Winter just seems to last so much longer at high altitude resorts in summit county.
I wont even talk about a basin, where you can feel like your still in winter with 2 feet of fresh in june.
Driving past vail or park city or aspen in april is like wading through a muddy slushy shithole where all the snow is melting.
Altitude is the answer.

HIGHLY recommend living in Summit. Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana all suck, 10/10 would not live in. Tell all your friends to move to CO immediately.

Because there's tons of other winter paradises that aren't unbelievably busy and don't have just average skiing terrain? I mean, if you're solely into park and can ski on the weekdays, then I guess. Aside from that, NAH.

Fuck summit. I hope I never live there. It impressively keeps getting shittier, and I already wasn't a fan. I do have friends there so I'll swing through in the fall and late spring but damn. No me gusta.

I would rather live in MN than summit

Same goes for California, Washington, and Oregon. It really sucks out there. Colorado is where everyone should move to: they have plenty of room

After living in Summit for two winters, I moved back to Burlington. Had a good time there but definitely not the place to be for too long.

Meh, i just love high altitude and snow that doesnt melt in 2 days. Im hoping breck and copper build a tram to connect the 2 resorts. If copper and breck were in the alps they wouldve built a connecting tram 30 years ago.

I worked there for a while. I think the people in summit are based as fuck, but still friendly.
Utah is full of people being fake nice and fake happy because they wish they could transfer their life to colorado but cant/wont for whatever reason.
In my exp colorado kids are like bobby brown (who is a denver native like trey parker). Like how can you choose to live in an antidrug shithole like utah that forces addicts to share needles and catch stds over a libertarian utopia thats much more tolerant of drug users.

you literally could live anywhere that has skiing and have a good time\
people doing drugs and sharing needles have nothing to do with your skiing, so kinda stupid to bring that up on a skiing forum

I moved to summit county and like two weeks later I smoked a joint this kid who skis with a guy who was in the x games. Safe to say I’m the shit now. Probably gonna enter Superunkown this year too if Oakley doesn’t call in the next few weeks...

Anyway, ever since I moved here I’ve had the right to shit on anyone who doesn’t live in also live in a mountain town. Like they don’t even know what’s up, ya know? They’re basically shitbag peasants who desperately want to be me. I’ve really started to enjoy alienating them whenever they’re in my presence.

And bro, don’t even get me started on the party scene bro. Being able to hit any bar or party knowing that everyone is exact same self absorbed person as me with the exact same interests is awesome. It never fucking gets old. Everything’s just so much more core here, ya know?

But by all means keep being an ugly ass bartender in some old shithole bar in slc where you can talk about how much you love joseph smith and jesus in america.

I’ve skied summit a few times, didn’t get the hype. I also felt like it was the refuge for the unimaginative and boring. From tourists to transplants, I felt like everyone there just chose Summit because they had no idea there are better places to ski. Quite a few of my friends here in Mammoth have previously lived in Summit and left for greener pastures and better riding.

How are you going to use Park City to compare other areas of the country... no one in UT skis PC... keep it in LCC and BCC and be done with it.

I agree, when it comes to actual skiing terrain nothing touches Alta and Snowbird. That and you actually get to drive up a real mountain road to go skiing and not take a rush hour freeway up to a covered parking garage. I miss those days of driving 35 min to the mountain.

The church sucks but regular Mormons are usually pretty chill. Its funny how down they are on dangerous/illegal activities as long as its not booze or drugs. I remember once I was bombing my Subaru 70+ Mph down a dirt road by my old house and a Mormon pulled up with a huge smile and waived at me.

LOL, funny you should say this about the Mormons. Yes, for the most part they are pretty chill, some take things a little too extreme but that goes with all religions. I have many Mormon friends that are always down to go cause trouble or go thrill seeking but when it comes to doing anything on a Sunday, count them out, a few of them have even turned down sponsors because of their religion.
