Breaking down Killington's new terrain park setups

So, if you haven't heard the news, POWDR Resorts is again expanding their horizons with Woodward. With this, Killington's whole park division got a huge facelift. I wanna help break this down to kill off any confusion. All this info was obtained from Killington Parks via Instagram, so don’t quote me on anything, cause this is all we know thus far. Btw I'm not affiliated with Killy at all, I just love the mountain a lot.

Most notably, all the rails will be re-painted yellow and black, instead of the classic green we know and love. :(

The Parks:

Prog. Parks- There's a few freshly added newb progression parks, more family orientated than last year. Easy Street got a facelift as well, with an easier version.

Peace Park- Unlike last season, The Peace Park will now be located where Timberline and Astroland are on Ramshead, instead of Dream Maker.

Dream Maker- This season, we will have the traditional setup for Dream Maker (the biggest terrain offered), but will still feature an 18' modified halfpipe. Expect a pipe similar to last seasons 18 footer.

"Pop-Up Parks"- Just codename for the good 'ole Rime and Reason early season rail gardens, and the early season Mouse Run park.

The Stash & Lil' Stash- Unchanged besides the usual shuffle of features throughout this park; traditional setup.

Red's Backyard Rail Garden- New park. A hike style park, located at the base of Ramshead, this park will pretty much let you practice and progress "at your own pace" and we can expect a much more laid back vibe here with small and medium features. I'd expect to see something like the Dark Park, but I could be wrong.

I'm super hype for this new change, especially the hike park. Killington needed one of those for a while now. Bummed about the idea of another aspect of the mountain being taken over by another company, Even though they're already owned by a franchise.They still had a local mountain feel to them. I hope this doesn't take away from the park crew's ingenuity and ideas too much, and that they still have a voice of reason. Hope this doesn't change that too much. What do you guys think of this shit? Lmk if I missed anything.

By the end of the season there was about 4 members left on park crew, this new change is giving the park operation much more money from before and they’re going to hire many more park ops and everything is going to be kept much nicer.

i think killington will still try to keep that core feel
and even if theydont you can always rip to the lookout for apres instead of on the hill

Kinda hate to see the good ol green rails go, but there’s gonna be a decent chunk of change for the park crew to play around with so hopefully that will translate onto the slopes

stoked for the hike park , I need this ! I really wanna learn some park and progress mainly my jumps and spins , learn some grabs and it sounds like it will be easy to lap , I’m so excited for this

I REALLY hope Mt Snow follows suit..

Also Changing the color of the rails is WHACK!!! Killington and that Lime Green are like.. meant to be.. idk it just hits the spot

Follows suit with what? These are two different companies. One pushing parks and freestyle and trying to take a strong hold of the market. The other trying to limit freestyle terrain, serve you a $12 beer and push the best profits to investors.

Nooo. its rumored there will be changes over there now that Vail has taken over. They built a real fancy lodge that isnt really geared towards the park rat demographic and inferno as a full park trail is going away. its only a matter of time before the right side park where nitro splits into the farm and continues to the right goes away as well to make it just a full groomed run from the top of the chair.

Can’t remember who I made a post about asking where there were some drops at Killington and someone offered to show me said they couldn’t explain where they were but I forgot who 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's just branding. Boreal did it as well a few years back. Idk, I heard about this a while back. It's a cool idea imo to make woodward more or a brand. It's worked out well for them at copper and boreal. Mt bachelor will prolly paint it's rails as well if they haven't already.

The green was iconic in a sense that they had it for a long time and all rails consistent, but it's all good.

Don’t think so, they painted over most the old rails already but they’re getting rid of all the dents and imperfections already to improve the quality.

Nah they'll just paint them. It's too much hassle to sell old rails. In summer/fall crews to all the refurb work on the old rails. Wire brush, fix topsheets, patch skirting, paint etc. If rails are fucked they usually get cut up and used as new features. If they're super mangled they'll prolly go in the bin with other scrap metal.
