This. Kelowna >Revy is also an easier drive.

Thanks for the responses! I was thinking Kelowna as well, but then I notice that there are no direct flights with a total travel time of roughly 7 hours. Or I could go to Calgary for 2+ hours, slightly cheaper flight and then a 4+ hour drive.

If I were to do Calgary, does anyone know if road closures are frequent over the passes to revvy? I think I'm now leaning towards Calgary unless you all object and think that Kelowna would be better....

If there is any amount of snowfall, the pass between Kicking Horse and Revy is sure to be closed for hours at a time for avi control and snow clearing. Traffic gets crazy backed up.
Revy is certainly amazing, never been to Kicking Horse but I know there is seriously sick terrain there and they host a FWT stop.
Revy has a park and Kicking Horse doesn't if that makes any difference to you.
Calgary is certainly easier to fly in and out of. If you have an awkward few hours to kill before/after flights you could even go to COP for a few park laps.
You could also look into skiing at Castle Mountain, Fernie, Lake Louise, Sunshine and Marmot Basin which are all great options.

Revy has better terrain (imo), lifts, snowfall and a fun park. Definitely has better tree skiing. Kicking horse is apparently way quieter on big pow days than Revy though. But yeh I'd still take revy any day.

Road can close on either side depending on how much snow. If driving check the bc and alberta provincial road reports and drive carefully. Seen plenty of wrecks off to the side of the road on that stretch where you know someone died.

If driving from Calgary and the road closes kicking horse is a good alternative to ski until the road opens again.

Places book up in revvy relatively quick cause there isn't a whole lot of lodging. So think about booking sooner than later.

They're both incredible mountains but just be aware that revy is all about hitting it on a deep day. If I was planning a trip then I would choose kicking horse for this reason. I've had some miserable days at rev without fresh snow but the steep up top at kicking horse usually holds up. They're close enough that you could always hit them both though

I've been to both. Revy once and Kicking Horse for the past 3 seasons. KHMR is fucking awesome. Revy was a great time, and has more to do in-town but I love Kicking Horse. It's unique and quite the experience. One thing to mention, if you go too early in January is the lack of daylight. The sun wont come up over the mountains til like 9/930 Am that time of the year and it sets at like 4. It isn't a huge issue, cause you'll be very hard pressed to ski 1st chair to last. It's a ton of vertical. It gets better the closer you go to mid february tho. Haven't gone through Kelowna, but you won't find a direct flight. Pretty sure Revy has an airport now as well with a few flights via Vancouver that come in every couple days. That won't be cheap, but also an option. There isn't much you can do with regard to road closures. Generally speaking, the road is open more often from LL/Banff to Golden. More closures happen from Golden to Revy. The first few trips I rented an SUV + Chains and did the drive, I don't recommend this AT ALL unless you're super confident driving in heavy snow. Needless to say, I now take the shuttle that Kicking Horse offers. You'll have a great time. Even if it's low tide. Revy had a Bus service to get around town and to the hill when I went that was free if you stayed at certain hotels. I'm assuming they still do. Let me know if you have any other questions!
