Any older members feel like you cant skateboard as well as you could at 16?
To me the problem
seems to be that our hips
get wider when we age. For those of you who feel skateboarding has gotten harder i suggest buying a 34 or 35 inch deck. My hips are pretty narrow even, but i still skate a million times better on a 9x34.5 inch deck than i did on a typical 32 inch long deck. Having an extra 2 or 3 inches of real estate just makes it feel like being 16 again with a board much wider than your hips.
Anyway, just thought id share. Try a longer deck out, you wont be disappointed.
I tried a 9 but it felt like I was kickflipping a boat dock. Then all the 8’s. And settled on an 8.25 as perfect for me. The days of 7.75 boards are long gone for me. It’s the same reason I ski a 106 waist ski. Just a bit more stable for my old ass.
Mark Gonzales rides longer, wider boards nowadays. Saw a video of him sliding a rail on a big ass longboard in the rain. I have a friend who is my age but he swears by 35 inch decks. He can still rip a kickflip just fine as well.

Nice
SofaKingSickWhat is this guy’s deal with hips getting wider and pseudo-scientific theories?
Most of my friends have said their hips are much wider now than they were at age 16. More weight necessitates a bigger frame to support.
Maybe in ten years when you are 24 you can come back to this thread and apologize for being a pseudo-intellectual tool.

when i flew over the wasatch at 16
ifin you told me i would ski most of those peaks and slopes
ida said no fuckin way
can one of you green babysitters move dolans skateboard shit outta
SKI gabber for him?
For me it was less of my hips getting wider, and more that my legs got A LOT longer. A was 5'3" at 16 and I'm 6" now.... never really thought of trying a longer deck but its a good idea!

when i was 24 i was skiing lines my 16 year old self would think were a daydream
you're only going to hurt yourself with this kind of thinking, you're in your 20s dude not your 50s. replace the half ass analysis of your hips and stuff with getting/staying fit or you're going to be an old husk by 30 and there's no good reason for that

Im in my 30s. I am in pretty good shape im about 6”1 and 210. Even before i gained weight i had my hips get wider from age 16 to 26. Its just natural, your hips are always going to be skinnier in your teens, they grow wider over the years.
i appreciate your viewpoint tho, i think claiming you cant do park anymore because your too old is a tgr tier losers attitude. The name of the game today is to rip it until your body seriously takes a downturn in your 50s. I always was in awe of old guys like bernie rosow who were doing switch cork 14s at age 30 like it was nothing. Its truly inspiring to see older guys still commit genocide in the park.
This folks.. A great example of hardwork and determination. Love how you guys barely got back into skating during the start of the PANDEMIC.. Now you have a fully legit brand and functional website offering hard/softgoods which all may I say, look great. Two thumbs up
I can’t fall off my skateboard as well as I used to be able to when I was 16 and it’s why I converted it to a cruiser/commuter with truck risers and longboard wheels.

If your gonna ride something you cant do tricks on i would suggest getting an electric longboard.
its a ton of fun and if you commute everyday on your electric board you will have a synergism with skateboarding and when you do hop on your regular skateboard to do tricks you will feel more at ease from all the miles riding your e board.
And look like a total kook. Completely on brand for you.

Mmm I think I'm a much much MUCH better skater at 26 than I was at 16. Getting better every year! 😁
16 year old me couldn't even fathom doing what I do now. But I guess I was an adult when I finally came into the whole "scene".
Truly stepped into a skatepark for the first time at 22 years old cuz it took me that long to simply feel like it was socially acceptable. Once I finally stopped giving in to the constant background noise of discouraging voices (only trashy whores skate cause they're chasing some loser dude!), I got out of my shell, got social media and leveraged it to make a couple friends. Then boom, it was a domino effect of progression. Till then it was kinda like only me cruising around the neighborhood as a workout... kinda like a jogger but with a shortboard.
I mean I still skated a shitload, but didn't know how to do anything cool cuz never saw anyone else doing it. If anything, most of my life I hid the fact that I did it!
Then all of a sudden I was surrounded by people who were supportive and pushed me and cheered me on (hell fucking yeah to the old guy snowskaters that took me under their wings), so I started skating hard every day.. Eventually got a little better, had a few sessions with a coach, put down a couple rowdy claims, learned a few different styles, got a little better, fell in with a crew, and now skating is my life - something I take really seriously and wear proudly - where it was more of a stay in shape kinda thing in my teens.
But I guess yeah, to your point, pretty much all my boards are huge. Smallest one I really ride is an 8.75. Rocked an 8 for a little while but it felt like air under me and I kept taking diggers on drop-ins.
Idk, a little side of life story for ya. It's late and I'm in a rambling mood. 🤷🏻♀️
DolanReloadedCool. How much does it cost per board to make decks? Do you go through the major factories like dwindel etc...?
also do you design your own ace trucks or are they like generic with a label?
Unfortunately Dwindel aren't taking on any new customers at the moment. Also because we're only just starting out we're not going to be ordering anything like the numbers that the bigger brands will so they get priority. So we're not the most profitable at the moment but if we break even then I'll be happy as we're doing this more for fun and to stay busy during theses crazy times.
Ace trucks are a well established brand and I bought these off the UK distributor so we're selling them at just below RRP.

kinda like rollerblading and skiing
I don’t really have the time (+ recovery time) to be trying to learn tricks again on my board, so I made the cheap conversion to it, as I still enjoy getting around on it and the cardio work out of it and with the longboard wheels I don’t have to worry so much about falling because of uneven surfaces or stones.
I used to ride a couple of miles to and from work every day in the summer on it (before I moved) without feeling the need to spend hundreds on going electric. Plus, without mentioning the extra weight of an e board, there was too much start stop with light controlled pedestrian crossings to build up any sort of speed and it’s more fun to run a few steps and hop onto a unpowered board than step onto an electric and move off.

Have you ever ridden an electric board?
they are literally more fun than sex.
also if you have the money to buy a longboard then you can pretty much get one of the best electric longboards out there for just a little bit more.
i have this board and its literally a panzer tank. Bulletproof design and reliability. Dependable and very waterproof. It literally is a better board than most 1000$ + boards and its only 400. Absolutely the best value esk8 u can buy. 24 mph and 12 miles range.
if you buy one and dont fall in love with it i will ban myself from 4chan for 24 hrs
Sex is wayyy better than riding an electric skateboard...if you don’t pay for sex. You loser.
