johnblazeyour hip flexors are probably tight. foam roller is your friend. put that under your lower back / upper pelvis and just lay there until you feel them releasing. do this a lot.
DientoIm on it boss! been trying to do it regularly
FapMasterFLEXGo to a doctor, and then start PT. You can still ski, but you can make it worse just doing random stretches here and there. Generally speaking, the site of the pain isn’t the whole problem. Start with actively loosening your larger muscles. Hip Flexors/Glutes and IT Bands cause a LOT of low back issues. They will cause calf tightness as well. Foam Rolling + Stretching + Resistance band training. I might sound crazy but, I had a back injury last season. Pain free now after a cortisone shot and aggressively working to get in the best shape possible.
CalumSKIfix you posture
its super important man
Ajd2700How often do you ski? If you aren’t skiing a lot, maybe the muscles you tend to not use regularly become extra sore. It’s probably the hip flexors tho, they tie directly to your lower back and if they’re tight your lower back suffers. If you have the extra money I recommend getting a Theragun, it’s a life changer👍🏼
HadinoBI gotta do this, my flexors get strained to the point where I can’t lift my right leg
SavageBiffI am fighting a groin pull and hip flexor injury , can barely lift leg , can barely pivot on right leg , core strength and leg strength suffered tremendously, I’m at about week 14 🥶 barely improving but I should be ok for november
anyway , this happened bc I have an xtra vertebrae in lower left back that always gave me mild to pretty bad pain , I lifted something jerkingly ( about 400lbs) one day a day after Olympic lifts at gym so I was already compromised and tight , but never during or after skiing have I had pain however mopping , shoveling etc used to kill me , it just throws my whole body off slightly
lots of stretching didn’t help til I got the right stretches and eexercise which without , I’m prone to injury with moderate activity , I lost a lot of range of motion which I’ve gained back and surpassed , after all the work I’ve put in I’m back to the ability of my 17 year old self I’m 36 and at 26 had to leave construction for retail , I’ve been back in construction for 7 years pain free no meds no surgery
point being , see a doc so you know exactly what’s up and how to manage it so you can live your life, my wife used to have to tie my shoes in the am for work 😆
and take everyones advice on stretching , yoga and posture
SavageBiffNever done any yoga , am very interested and do plan to add it to my routine ASAP probably gonna move away or severely limit Olympic lifts and free weights when I return to gym as well
KilaTsunamiBeing mad strong will definitely help you on the hill, but if you start doing yoga, then you can start talking yoga... which will get you laid waaaay faster than talking weight lifting.
