11010110I broke my wrists mountain biking this past summer and will get the casts off next month and then another month to heal more. Should I worry about pole planting? Or just go no poles for the season

I'm going to treat this as an AMA thread because I don't know what you should do with poles aside from not use straps.

How did you clean yourself up after using the bathroom with two broken wrists?

I have a bidet in my bathroom and my broken bones didn't need surgery. Just immobilization of the joint

That sucks man, shit. Best call would be to ask your doc and listen to your body. Bones will heal but your wrists will weaken in a cast which can lead to injury if you don't build back your strength. If the doc says you're healed and your wrists feel strong, send it.

And this is for skiin in general, I'd be worried less about the pole plant than I would be trying to break a fall.

Honestly dude you probably should still ski with poles because you won’t have as much of an instinct to catch yourself with your hands if you fall.

Ive had skiers thumb surgery on both my hands and tore the ligament in 4 other fingers.

I still ski with poles (even right after surgery) but just don't use the straps. (Straps are what will get you hurt)

Only time this ever becomes an issue is in deep pow days - but just rock a cheap pair on those days if you're that worried... but its a pow day.... you shouldn't be worried about a damn thing.

No pole
