They dropped almost their whole team a few years ago that included basically all of their street riders right before the season began. Basically demonstrated that they didn't give a fuck about the steet/park/film skier side of the sport. I'm ok with companies dropping riders, every company has dropped at least 1 skier that I like at some point. But orage did it at the worst time possible and really fucked their riders over for that season

From memory they didn’t just drop bdog from the pro team, they offered him flow instead. If anything that’s even more of a pisstake. Uh yeah so we know you’re a bit big time and in xgames now Phil so would you mind wearing our stuff for free?

I remember Phil saying that they were telling him to wear less baggy clothes, change his style, etc. Super fucked as the Bdog was their highest selling jacket and that's wack regardless
Clearly everyone in this thread has never heard about the Masters or have been around skiing for more than 4 years.
Pull your heads out of your asses, Line, Atomic, Nordica, k2 all did the same thing years ago as do most companies do when they pivot into different markets or try and survive a crash. Orage did more for freeskiing than almost every brand on the market these days - know your history kids.

Yeah, people forgot that LINE dropped their whole team but Pollard and just went with flow riders

Orage Masters was literally my favorite thing in skiing so you can stfu. The Orage riders getting dropped wernt just budget cuts They dropped their freeskiing program and brand right before the season started leaving their riders without a significant chunk of income. There was a page-long thread with orange names talking about how fucked over they got.
Its wasnt just budget cuts like you seem to be implying. It would be more similar to if Line all of a sudden started making directional skis only.

It's not about the fact that they cut a bunch of skiers, it's how they did it that made it bogus. They used to be a sick company for sure, Orage Masters was epic and they sponsored a ton of hot riders.
Don't assume everyone on these forums is a kid, as far as I can tell it's like 50/50 edgy teenagers and crusty old heads

Fuck Orage.
Clearly it wasn't if you hate on them so much.
Orage had a close relationship with their team for more years than you've been on this site. They built pro models, funded travel, sponsored events and built their entire brand around their athlete's personas. Yeah timing was off but thats how business works- sometimes brands get sold and people get fired or new owners have different ideas of where money should go. Talk shit all you want but you have no idea what happened behind closed doors and what offers were made to athletes when they were "let go".
I just think it's lame when our community is so small already and kids are so quick to raise the pitchforks over one shitty moment when a brand like Orage has such a rich legacy in skiing that extends beyond 20+ years.

I think its really funny when these kids start hating on companies that support skiing then move to buying a companies product that doesn't support skiing like Adidas.

I think that Orage made a conscious decision to not be a part of the Newschoolers/street skiing/film skier community when they dropped all of their skiers that were the most popular with people on this website. We're not the ones dividing the community. Orage decided to leave the community all on their own. Unless they make a serious effort to show that they care about the type of skiing that people on this website care about, people are gonna hate.
I must say though, I do applaud everyones loyalty to b-dog and the rest of the boys even years after the fact.
I'm out.
Much love to all and try not to hate so much on brands that still support skiing. Yeah they don't sponsor street athletes anymore but they do sponsor big mountain skiers who once did street 10 years ago.
pokermannah bro i'm just not a sheep in a herd of haters.

Nah man, it's kind of a complicated situation honestly.
Mike Nick was a great guy and built some good relationships but he left:
The company subsequently made some very unprofessional moves - dropping athletes with no warning at the beginning of the season and telling Bdog to wear an outfit that he said "looked like a wet suit."
Read this thread, it has numerous insights from people like Graner, Imlach, Andy Parry, Talkington, Bdog, etc etc

Regardless of the support given in the past, Orage gave up a quality team with some of freeskiing’s most creative and talented riders (bdog, magnus, etc). Then they started marketing their clothing towards cornball looking dads and made their logo as generic as possible. If they think that this is a better business decision then supporting a team, then all the power to them. But I don’t think it is and obviously most of the park skiing community doesn’t either.

Is this what Stan Rey wore in Magnetic? God he looked like such a goober in that

Is this a joke? Like they don't even have someone in the office that doesn't look like a complete square to model their new euro fit/ cheaper-strafe looking outerwear? How you gonna tweak that cork7blunt in those skinny ass bois?
