ON3P Kartel 108 re-tuning help

I started out on the older 176 kartel 108 a few years back and really loved it so last year upgraded to the new version (2018-19) in a 181cm. I know some changes were made but from what i heard these were very subtle so i was surprised when on quite a few occasions last season my uphill ski completely washed out on firmer snow and was difficult to complete a carved turn. Now i know this is not what the ski is intended for and in any wetter/deeper snow it rips but this is my only ski and i ride a lot a very variable terrain in Chamonix so need less terrifying experiences when ripping the harder stuff. I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same thing and re-tuned to help combat the problem and if so what was the outcome?

Just retune the edges to be sharper. The gummi in the effective edge is aggressive so if you need more edge hold retune the skis.

We send everything out 1/1 but you can also increase side edge bevel to 2 if you are seeing primarily hard snow.

Once edges are retuned, keep the area outside the effective edge heavily detuned (honest you can just tell shop to not hit that area, but if they do you will want to use a file to detune).

Then use a gummi to dial in your preferred sharpness within the effective edge. Start with a baseline of around 5 passes on a gummi (will still be very sharp) then further dial by need (bring gummi in hill is good way to go).

Once you know know where you like your tune it is a lot easier to get back there.

We run everything on motorized detuners but if we were going by hand the detune we find has work best for the highest number of customers would sit somewhere around 25 passes. Some find too sharp still, or others want more sharpness like in your case, but that is the zone we’ve had the best out-of-the-wrapper customer experience thus far.
