Replying to Chile end of season

Hello / ¡hola!

I am going to be in Santiago from September 28th to October 4th and was wondering if with current conditions it is possible that I will be able to get some laps in at Valle Nevado, or maybe somewhere else that is in close proximity to Santiago (maybe within 5 hours or less).

I was reading around and it seems like it is possible that the mountain might still be open, but it's kind of a toss up. Does anyone have any insight? In addition, I didn't bring any gear and was planning on renting, if possible I'd like to be pointed in the direction of quality rentals, not entry level stuff.
