Im sorry I don’t really hate on anybodys skiing but i seriously can’t fuckin watch that guy. For me its not so much the daffy butters, I mean they get pretty cringe after a while but the thing I can’t stand is the millions of unnecessary “swerves” he adds in and the fake swag. Its almost like he’s purposely doing retarded shit on the hill to clown skiing or something. If he just did a couple daffy butters with some normal tricks with no ugly ass fake afterbang and no swerving I would actually like watching him because hes actually a pretty dope skier.

I have never cared about how anyone skis. Ive never seen a problem with comp, urban, swerve skiing or whatever but theres something about this that just rips me apart inside but obvs im the problem here because I really shouldn’t care, I just can’t help it hahahaha.

I think that instagram has a lot to do with the hate, Toph prolly just started vibing with daffy butters with getting older and not wanting to do stupid sendy shit all the time. IG is a platform that caters to short attention spans so he could just post a cool daffy butter and get attention since it's fresh and new thing in skiing. Plus toph has the IG cut down, look at any video he's made of another skier and you'll see exactly why he's blown up for daffy butters.

That said I'm not a big fan of daffy butters and would rather see more technical and gnarly clips on the gram. But skiing is skiing, people can do whatever they want wherever they want and if they like it then cool.

The thing that bugs me about topher is that I know he can do rail tricks with amazing style without the 5 reverts or the revert to switch with a look back to the camera. (I enjoy a good mean mug but like every other trick is a lil too much for me.)

but again I really don’t care what people do with their skiing so

To be fair the whole daffy butter/lesser tech swerve scene does help bring people into the sport.
Part of the reason I got into skiing was watching topher and dan's buttery, mellow, and generally low risk style.
This kind of skiing seems a lot more approachable to learn and understand than, say, big air lines from someone like Henrik or Ahall. Watching dudes throw crazy spins and rail combos is intimidating for people who are still trying to grasp basic trick fundamentals.
