Is there any truth behind everybodys claim that utah snow is better?

specifically meaning better than colorado snow?
The best pow ive ever been in is in summit co colorado, so i dont know why so many people talk about utah snow being lighter and fluffier.

Desert climate leads to lower water content snow on a more regular basis and we get more because of the great salt lake. I've never skied in Colorado for a season though.

By desert do you mean the salt flats of ut?

Utah coldsmoke is definitely awesome but its half based in science and half marketing strategies from the tourism board and resort marketing departments, Probably more marketing than ever before now

I have skied both CO and UT for multiple seasons and can confirm that CO snow is typically lighter. That being said, CO gets skied out in like 2 hours on a pow day. UT pow is good stuff though but then again I grew up skiing PNW cement.

I have skied 3 seasons in Utah and 4 in Colorado. Utah claims the "lake effect" with the added element that the saltiness evaporates more moister from the snow. Im no Bill Nye but I have skied some real light snow in Utah..

Titus is being over dramatic. If you really want to come ski UT you are more than welcome to. I recommend Canyons, its really the only resort worth checking out. Dont bother with any of the others, they are not worth your time.

Seriously, in reality you'll get more pow runs over there than on the og PC side (you'll get like 15 open pow runs on weekends there, like 25 runs on the canyons) especially on 9990 when they deem it safe for riding. Alta and the bird are overhyped and become moguls after the opening lift lines, brighton is full of Jerries and drunk college kids. Park city is the place to be on a wasatch pow day for sure, if utah even gets snow......

I live and have skied in Colorado since 2003 and also spent a ton of time skiing in Utah over the last 15 seasons. On average, Utah has better snow both in quality and quantity. It can definitely go off in Colorado and when it's cold, the snow is great. However, good days in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons are more frequent than Colorado and a good day in Utah is better than a good day in Colorado - at least snow wise.

Also, the terrain in Utah is much better on average.

Its actually fun cuz utah locals kinda hate late spring storms cuz theyre so sloppy and not dry so its all the real1s out there skiing hotpow late seaon

Well seeing the snowbird line on that late may pow day showed otherwise granted it was only Peruvian til 11, however even though it was heavy i still found a good untouched spot that was creamy.

Snowbirds spring skiing tbh has been incredibly wack in the last two years. Fun corn skiing but seriously closing down the entire gad valley? They deserve to get swamped with bullshit like that. Ultra mega uber wack

Yeah they definetly got cheap with their running costs in the last couple months, skied peruvian for a few weeks, closed when it couldve gone almost til closing, then shutting down mineral the last 2-3 weeks was bullshit, little cloud got so shithoused cause of it. I'd usually get there for opening and within an hour the empty lift lines turned into 5-10 minute waits.

Theres nothing to brag about in utah dude, the snow sucks, summers are bluebird and 105 everyday, and the state sucks the cock of the LDS church.

Yeah the difference between being in the valley and getting up to the cottonwoods or PC is fucked, snow and rain help with the smog but still so gross to see driving into from the mountains. The best view utah provides is looking out from little cottonwood and seeing the beautiful massive mine they got out in the Oakers range, mmmmm stunning.
