There comes a point where I think a lot of people want to do something they think is crazy but they psych themselves out. With that in mind I've decided that I'm going for a half iron man next summer. I've never done a triathlon before, ran a half marathon or so much as swam a mile but I want to test myself and my resolve. I've recently committed myself to building up both my mental and physical health after years of neglect. So NSers has anybody done anything similar. What crazy feats have you guys set out to do?
I always got short term goals and long term ideas to challenge myself. There is always a higher mountain, a further line to ride and a tougher way to accomplish something.
Expeditions is my favorite ways to go further than I could imagine myself doing. You can take your time, escape civilization and see true nature without human interference. The distance is not exactly what excited, but the remoteness of the location is what makes me wanna do it.
My goal this fall is to push a 3 day hiking trip through Jumbo Pass to explore the region for skiing.
My big million dollar idea is to hike Iqaluit to Pond Inlet on Baffin Island. Ive seen the coast of Baffin, visited both places through work, but the thought of travelling through the craziest mountain range without assistance really turns me on. The biggest hurdle is securing enough money to pull it off. A flight to Iqaluit is 2000$ and returning back from Pond Inlet is another 3500$. Supply drops are a few thousands more.
Heh, dreams can sometimes only be dreams...
