Do RedBull athletes actually like Red Bull?

I often see RB athletes like Johnny Collinson and Markus Eder actually drinking RB. Do they really drink the stuff or is it just in front of the camera?

Unless its for show or on the podium probably not. Caffeine works by throwing your adrenaline system into overdrive which is the last thing you want when hitting a sketchy line or jump set. I remember a some years ago a few athletes started a "Drink Water" campaign. I think they even had stickers and stuff.

Let me tell you something, if you don't like redbull, something is wrong with you motherfucker. Where are all these people that don't like red bull? I'm sick of hearing about how bad it is, it's great. I'm waiting for red bull to approach me for a commercial, I'll do it for free redbull. It's the least I can do for you

I've heard athletes say they don't touch the stuff when talking about energy drink sponsors, and word on the street is the cans they drink from after a run/event have water in them.

That being said, I don't know if anyone really likes redbull, unless used as a mixer

obviously it varies how much any given person likes the product itself. Same with any product tho

This.. You'll see they have a redbull water bottle with a straw. it's water... They may be handed an actual drink can, take a sip for the sponsor and then hand it off to get the water.

Yep - they're actually differently labeled cans, that just have water in them. I know for Monster at least the cans are labeled "Tour Water" where the flavor is typically listed. This is also why athletes put their hands over the bottom of the can to cover up the label (and to show off the logo).

If you ever watch StreetLeauge you can tell pretty easily, the cameras get much closer and the skaters dont care as much.

I had some friends sponsored by RedBull for windsurfing, and they said that they were advised not to drink much of it... we always had crates of the stuff they'd bring to parties for mixers though which was handy!

Growing up a friend of mine was "sponsored" (got free monster, stickers and some gear) by Monster for Motocross/Arenacross. We always had cases of the shit lying around. His parents found 4 or 5 cases last year in a barn that were dated from like 09.

I used to to work with this crane operator who was sponsored by Rockstar for motocross. He said he hated drinking Rockstar, never touched it. He would bring in like several 24 pack flats of Rockstars into work just to offload when his garage would get full.

Energy drink companies have cans of water in same cans for athletes. A lot def don't drink them but energy drinks have been a pretty clutch sponsor of action sports under the years. Can't hate

if you're a serious athlete, you'd already know that these drinks aren't that good for ones health, particularly in these highly skilled disciplines . iv heard that the drink companies make cans with just water in them. i always thought about that as well, its like working in a pretzel factory, which make tasty pastry, but like, you are exposed to it everyday that the desire to physically consume declines substantially

Personally idgaf what athletes wear or drink, but others do, and well....marketing. I fucking love Redbull and how it tastes. Monster is great too if you need to stay away for a car ride or for studying but otherwise I don't care for it.

And everyone is different. Caffeine increases catecholamine release, which in turn can increase anxiety and nerves, so I totally get why folks hitting gnarly lines avoid it. Their body is already getting flooded with catecholamines; no need to make Elvis legs worse. I'm the same way; I don't drink any caffeine before most work days because it causes too much nerves when I need to be calm.

But flat out saying it's bad for you is a bit far. It's a drug and it has a purpose. It actually increases alertness and focus so that can be very helpful especially when creativity and completion of deadlines is important. Also the additional epi/norepi release can allow you to push harder than maybe without it. America runs on caffeine.

For exercise it depends on the scenario. Long distance running, I probably wouldn't drink caffeine. It's a diuretic and only increases likelihood of cramping by dehydrating you more. For powerlifting or high intensity contact sports, I've found caffeine rocks.

Personal decisions though. To each their own.

I made the poor decision to drink one before a run...That was awful with gross carbonated bubbles bouncing around in my gut. I tried to burp but I couldn't.

Everyone likes Redbull, it's delicious.

It's probably not the best thing to drink before or during sporting events, I'm sure there are some ultra runners that drink it though a lot of them seem to prefer coke for whatever reason.

I have a couple in the fridge for those mornings when I'm in a rush and need that caffine. But coffee is my go to for my morning boost.

I discovered redbull in 8th grade track last race. Drank a can (or two?) and shaved 30 seconds off my best 800 time. That is the power of caffeine

I feel like Ahall has used the same can in all his videos cause he just doesnt wanna drink sugary piss all the time. I watched one of Andris cringey ass vlogs and he said he doesnt even want an energy drink sponsor cause he lives to healthy to even need that in his life, kinda sounds like a lil bitch but quad corking without cork juice is impressive.

a lot of pro road bikers love coke because its really fast and easy energy because of the sugar in it. it would be a miracle drink if it wasn't carbonated

I'm gonna guess not. If you're looking for faster absorption of sugar consider your type of sugar being ingested. Coca cola contains high fructose corn syrup which is absorbed quite fast regardless, and has a high glycemic index, albeit not as much as pure glucose/dextrose.

Kinda weird all these posts about cyclists drinking Coca cola. Must have been a thing a good cycler did one time and it became a trend. Better thing would be to eat a bunch of complex carbs to sustain over the course of the race and not have a sugar crash. If you're looking for sugar near the end of the race, opt for something noncarbonated.

I'm pretty sure it's close. They try to market Gatorade as a healthier athletic drink but it's just brightly colored flat soda as far as I'm concerned.

What about Lucozade? It's pretty lightly carbonated and has crazy levels of glucose and a good bit of caffeine.

I had 2 monsters on a 50 km ruck. And nearly died of cramp.

Well that was dumb. You're talking 300-600mg of caffeine depending on how big the monsters were. That's basically asking for dehydration.
