What i mean is, the idea of ignant style and progressive tricks used to be like level ones superunknown concept, it was kind of like our dirty little secret. But after the 14 olympics its not a secret anymore, and the excitement of doing things in the park/bc that blow gapers minds is over.
How do you feel about that?

wasatch_ratI'd compare it to watching a niece or nephew grow up (I'd say like a parent watching, but thats giving myself WAY to much credit). I know where the sport came from, i saw how awkward and yet exciting its growing pains were, and now its matured into this unbelievable sport thats more complicated, amazing and popular than I ever could have imagined. So yea, sometimes its a little bittersweet to reminisce on the good ol days when the sport was just a little kid learning to walk and run, but its even more amazing to see it become the 20 something year old adult that has accomplished so much and we all are so proud of. It all love, no matter the age


the sport was really darn cute in its adolescent teens

asking them if they were afraid of tom cruise
and Sean penn for embarassing them in south park episodes and they literally were like
”we are about 6 feet tall, and sean penn and tom cruise are about 5 foot 6, so we arent too afraid of them.” Im trying to find a clip of it but the point is, its always based to rip on manlets who act bigger and tougher than they are.

I moved out here in 96 to ski bum and the revolution was in ski shape and the twin tips was just a small part of it
the last of the ski bums, blizzard of ahhs Schmidt, plake ,coombs early wm set the stage for this revolution way before twin tips

skiing is a fringe sport and the new wave park shits a fringe of that fringe
the revolution was in the ski shapes from the parabolics for the gapers
to the g o a t s napkin drawing of the spatula to volant making it
the change from traditional to reverse chamber and side cut led the way to the multitudes of options of shapes available
better at bindings carbon fiber light weight skis and boots and splitboards help fuel the revolution to true freeskiing
removed the need for mechanical uphill dependence and made any mountain a potential playground
and that revolution isn't fading one bit

Super fortunate to be in the thick of all its glory but its also saddening at the same time. I feel like the ski scene (if you're super into skiing) is one of those pillars in your life that you can measure your aging by, if that makes any sense.

The credits of Romance were super cool but also nostalgic/made me feel kinda sad that all of it has come and gone.

But, as I said, super fortunate to be there for it all and involved with it in exciting ways.

Skiing was cool when it wasn’t “established”

only thing that most people care about is having “cool” gear

same folks who listen to shitty music but insist on needing AirPod pros for sole purpose of achieving some type of falsely guided attempt at gaining a sense of social acceptance
