Where is level 1 going???

I think we’re all very stoked for the new (and final) level 1 movie. But why are they calling it quits on Making annual ski movies? Are they Not making enough money? What are they going to do if they’re not making annual ski movies? Please. Enlighten me.

They also said they wanted to have more time/be more flexible to make smaller projects that they can release on the internet whenever, because that's what eveyone else is doing and a single yearly movie release is getting kinda outdated

He respectfully asked to be enlightened, yo, idk if he was aware of Level1 podcasts because he, too, probably has some shit going on. Either way, Making a movie year after year has gotta get tiresome after 10, let alone 20.

Theres so much sick content for free these days that the only reason to pay 30 bucks for a
Ski vid dvd is if the soundtrack is awesome.
And after refresh the soundtracks on level 1 vids started to suck dick. Unless Berman went back to including music that was incredibly fresh and original, i wouldnt consider buying any more movies from him.
If a soundtrack sucks it doesnt matter how good the skiing is.
If you want an example go watch the eyetrip sun valley shoot. Its ruined by the song.

remember when the VHS/DVDs would come with a CD of the soundtrack? I agree. I think Long Story Short may have been their best movie from a music perspective.

I believe the yearly annual filming schedule has just gotten more and more difficult to achieve cuz of certain factors (Money, Personal obligations, other career opportunities, tough to get all the riders in the same places at the same time, etc.), someone from the outfit elaborated a bit more on that recently in a thread. They'll still make ski content but also with the emergence, effectivness, and popularity of social media ski content, ski movies on DVD or digital release have taken a sorta step back. Id happily give money to a crew like Nimbus for a release every other year but its tough to compete with crews from all over skiing hard and promoting their stuff almost free of charge with little local short inhouse 30 min movies/edits

I always though ski productions were done by 100s of people, with big budgets and backing from major investors. But after meeting some producers, its actually just a handful of dedicated people, working long hours on their computers just to put out a small part in a full length movie. Before it was easy to pirate the videos, you know how many people were consuming your product and how people were reacting to it.
Money is a driving force, but finding gifted editors, contacting people for shoots all around the world will burn you out after a while. I get it Level 1 is calling it quits; Im thankful for their contribution to our sport and having the best movies in the early years.

I feel like as a ski movie producer, doing a few short projects/shoots a year would be a lot easier than one feature film because you wouldn’t have to collect a shitload (hopefully) of content from every single athlete and then have to compile it into a 50ish minute film and cut out so much good content. If you put out somewhere around 4 small film projects a year you could put out more content, generate more revenue, and keep drawing attention to your company all year
